They have 20 AGMs but still? They could have signed him to a PTO two weeks before camp.
Friedman first reported the interest and I thought no, he wouldn't. But knew he would

how short is this board's memory?

Do we not remember signing Amadio, Semyonov, Ho-Sang, Gabriel just last year?
You think he's leaving the Swiss league to play with marlies. As Dubas does, I'm sure promises were made and he'll be traded when he doesn't fit here

It was just last year and the one before that the intrigue and wonder was for Amadio, Semyonov, Ho-Sang, Gabriel and others.

It's swapping shit out for shit with the odd one working out. By the time we've found one, maybe two players that work out, they have to find employment elsewhere to get paid.

In that case he'll go back to Switzerland if he can't hack it with the Leafs. Otherwise, his contract in league minimum and can be buried in the minors.

Some moves are just standard protocol independent of whatever is going on at the moment with the main roster. When a young guy tears up a league, you sign him and give him a shot to make the roster. That's just management 101
Where does he fit on this team and what need does he address?

I am curious to see if his game has improved since his last stint but at the same time he’s not the type of bottom 6 player the Leafs need so it seems like a nothingburger or giant waste unless he’s there in a depth role on the Marlies

Having Malgin and Robertson on the fourth line, with a right wing with size, would be interesting. It would certainly have a lot more offensive potential that last year.

Robertson should not be on the fourth line. The leafs need to give him an extended look on the top 2 lines.

He was an asset in the system who is coming off a fantastic year in the Swiss league.

Makes sense to bring him back for another crack. He really didn't do more than get his feet wet the first time around.

How much of bringing back Malgin is based on the success of the player they traded for him Mason Marchment who signed for 4 years @ $4.5 mil AAV coming off a big NHL season?

Malgin --- Tavares -- Nylander

Putting him in a top 6 offensive role, giving him a chance to succeed?

Is he the one expected to replace Mikheyev?

Don’t love it but we’ll see what he brings. I just feel like he’s not going to grab a top six spot and i don’t think he’ll be effective in the bottom six. If we can move him for a pick after training camp that would be ideal
