Jesus I tried so hard on those. Got it completely wrong. Even the crosswords there's no way I could know all of that information without looking it up. I only got one and thats because the clue was "NHL's Bobby"

I used to be bad at them but eventually you begin to learn the crossword writer's style and they become a lot easier. You'll also start to see repeated clues or words because of their letter combinations. Words like 'area' or 'errs' occur frequently due to the popularity of the letters in those words. Then when can fill in the common words, you have some letters filled in to help with the other words going the other direction.

I wish I was good enough to do the cryptic crosswords. I have to stick the the regular crosswords :(

Cryptics are awesome. Once you get used to the rules they become easier but you have to do them often. I find when I don't do them for a while, it takes me a while to get back into them. If you can do regular crossword, you can do cryptics.

They may be intimidating at first but they aren't all that bad. I find that the best way is to attempt one and if you struggle, look at the answer. Once you look at the answer, try to determine how they arrived at the answer and what rules were followed. Sometimes with cryptics, you'll just know the answer right off the bat, if this happens, you should still try to figure out what rules they used to arrive at the answer.

The Globe and Mail used to have cryptics that were fairly easy. I still have a stack of cryptics from the Globe somewhere. If they still have them, that's a good place to start. I stopped doing regular crosswords once I discovered the Globe cryptics.

Just don't attempt to do British cryptics. Those are hard unless you are very familiar with the culture and vernacular. I am pretty good with all things British but the cryptics are a nightmare for me.

Hopefully you give them another try because it's so rewarding whenever you get an answer.

My Wednesday last semester was 8:30-11:30 am and then 7:30-9:30 pm and my Wednesday this semester was 9:30-11 am, 1:30-3:30pm and 7:30-9:30pm. Went home between for the first semester but I couldn't justify it in the 2nd semester so I toughed out a 12 hr day.

It honestly wasn't that bad as class kept me busy and during the 2nd semester I had quite a few group projects that I managed to have meetings for around 4-6pm.

The semester was actually pretty easy for me so I just had a giant gap of time. I couldn't even think about going back to school now.

whatever you do, do not watch Daredevil then Jessica Jones imo. Going from that good to that meh is boring.

I started on Jessica Jones watched a few episodes and then came back to it later after watching the 2 seasons of Daredevil and it was just such a step down.

I did try looking at the answers for a few days and still had no idea for most of them  This was with the globe and mail too.

Anyone else just witness that absolute miracle at Anfield!?!?

Almost like Istanbul :naughty:
Or that game in 2001 against Deportivo Alaves that made me Liverpool fan.

Crazy game, and it was between my 2 favourite teams, well I was still hoping for Liverpool to proceed.

But yeah, it is much easier to watch football here in Europe.

What are you doing for work these days, Cor?

Still co-managing a Timmies here in London. Or now at least. 2 more exams this week and I'll officially be looking to begin a career.

Already started looking, hopefully it doesn't take too long, but the job market is unpredictable.

So yeah, nothing glamorous right now, but it's supported me through school.

I assume you've googled all the rules and stuff like that? Also, are you saying the Globe still has cryptics?

what happened?

Soccer game.

Liverpool (English team) came back from 3-1 down to win 4-3 vs Borussia Dortmund (German team) to advance to the semi-finals of the Europa Cup. Liverpool needed to win (a tie would have sent them out) and scored the winner in injury time.

Mind saying which Timmies? I know a couple people that work at a couple different stores in London. South end of the city.

Yeah I've googled some and it helped a bit but not a ton. And actually the ones I looked at are in the national post. I used to be actually pretty good at them back in grade 11, lost my ability to do them

I think the National Post ones were a bit harder than ones in the Globe. The ones in the Globe were the easiest ones I've done, especially Saturday's. I have a cool app with tons of cryptic crosswords and I haven't done one on paper, in a while. I'm going to check out the Globe, next time I remember, as I prefer to do them by hand rather than on my tablet/phone.

That's good. Yeah, the job market is stiff these days even for mid-senior level positions. Best of luck in the search.

This is such a Phil Kessel story

Kessel's place that he was selling after Toronto had a YT video with pictures of the house and it randomly started trending on YT. All the comments are based around "how it this trending" "what is this" "somebody is paying top ad $" "****ing view bots". Has 37 likes and 81 dislikes. Such a Kessel thing to get ripped apart for something so stupid that was completely unintentional.

Made me laugh for some reason. I wouldn't be surprised if no one else finds the situation funny.

Didn't he sell the place for like ~500K less than originally listed?
