Can't remember if I took that Econ class, took quite a few but not sure if I ended up taking that one. Who's the prof?

Never heard of the guy, googled the class and pretty sure I didn't take it.

Just avoid Sterling as an econ prof if you can

Just realized I need only a 28% on this final exam and I should have no issues staying in my program.

Wow. And just like that all the stress is gone

Maybe next year I will pick electives that I will be in a better position then 'just pass' in LOL

I've been wanting to watch Black Mirror for a while. Is it on American Netflix? I looked on Canadian a while ago and it wasn't.

Yup, American Netflix.

I believe all the episodes are also on YouTube also.

There's only like 8 episodes or something, so definitely doesn't take a lot of dedication.

Thank the lord. Within the last hour (the last hour I was going to study before bed), I managed to get a GIANT piece of the course to click in my head and now all of the new material from the last midterm I understand fairly well.

Unbelievable how much of a turn I just took there  All I needed to do was understand what the SRA and SPRA do to things like money supply, interest rates, inflation, and the Canadian dollar and I was good to go.

Feels good. Will be nice to get this exam out of the way tomorrow morning.

Finished watching Black Mirror (including White Christmas). What a series. Every episode - apart from "The Waldo Moment" and "White Bear" - was television greatness and even "The Waldo Moment" and "White Bear" were very good. The standard set by the first episode was just amazing. Sickeningly shocking, yet I couldn't help but watch.

Can't wait for the series to continue on Netflix. Hopefully, the American adaptation continues the sheer brilliance set by the British version.

Just finished the first episode, thanks for the recommendation

For me White Bear was the most intense and I was on the edge of my seat for all of it which is why it's one of my favourites, but it is also probably one of the most unrealistic for me to see happening which I'm guessing why it was rated lower for you? As you said though, all episodes are fantastic.

It's still a great episode, but I found it a bit too predictable. Though I will say, it's closer to the tier of best episodes of the series, than The Waldo Moment, which I think is clearly the weakest episode in the series.

Awesome. Keep watching. An amazing show it is.

Cool, I might start it tonight after the Jay's game then.

Do it. Well worth it imo.

I shut social media out for a day to study and wake up to the news of kadri rielly and zaitsev. What a way to calm my nerves before an exam

I just wrote my exam that I was posting about yesterday and it turned out good.

Could have swore in was a 3 hr exam so I was taking my sweet ass time until my Prof said 30 minutes left (5 questions total, 1 1/2 remaining) and then I realized I had to pick up the pace lol. Finished right at the end but that last question wasn't the greatest all around answer.

I guess it makes sense now why most people weren't asking for a 2nd exam booklet. I ripped through the 1st one in 3 question while most people didn't even grab a 2nd one.

Anyone ever wondered who Lou Lamoriello's Mafia syndicate is with the Leafs? I was trying to put it together earlier.

Lou Lam is the Don Corleone obviously, Babcock is Clemenza, and Lemaire is probably Luca Brasi. Hunter is Sonny, Kyle Dubas is Michael, that cap specialist i can never remeber his name, is Tom Hagen.

Am i missing anybody? I was gonna start a new topic for this, but felt it would go better in here.

Never heard of it but what is it about?

It's a science fiction series that takes place about 700 years after the solar system is colonized. It's roughly similar to Hunger Games, but like an adult version of it almost (I hesistate to say Hunger Games because that evokes certain ideas). It's about a dystopian system based around a caste system and the main character is sent to infilitrate the highest caste by going through their school system (which is a warfare based system essentially).

That's a very bad writeup on it lol but the first book was very good. I don't want to give away too much

Anyone read any of the Read Rising trilogy by Pierce Brown?

I've read the first two. Really fast paced books. It's like an accumulation of a number of successful stories.

First one is very fantasy - second one went very sci-fi. Other than having trouble visualizing some of the fights taking place it was fun.

Its actually not that long IIRC. I believe only about 60 pages. Unless I was looking at the wrong pdf it didn't seem too bad and I have probably read about 10-15 pages from it on UFA/RFA.

Haha you must have been looking at a condensed version of it.

http://cdn.agilitycms.com/nhlpacom/PDF/NHL_NHLPA_2013_CBA.pdf

That one shows its 540 pages long :amazed:

Though from about like page 320 onwards its basically examples/exhibits of things within the CBA (like what a Standard Player Contract looks like).

Still a very long document. But even in looking for it briefly to find out how long it is, it's got me really curious. I might make this a new project of mine

I've recently started the second one. I wouldn't say the first one is VERY fantasy, but it's much more fantasy with sci fi sprinkled in. The second one feels different, I think because your right, it's gone full sci fi.

I really liked the first one, second one I'm enjoying so far.

Though I agree with "hard to visualize". Fun book but pas were just hard to track in my head

My electives are great, I use http://www.ratemyprofessors.com and see what others think of the Prof. Not 100% accurate as some people might be biased or just hate them but it's generally good.

I use ratemprof all the time as well. I have really lucked out with at least 2 profs (in 2 of my bigger courses) being 5/5 and 4.9/5, 2 of the highest rated faculty at my school. I've had a couple low scoring profs and it usually is due to dry material or trouble understanding.

If I know someone else who has had the prof too I usually take their word into account as well.

Kind of a continue on my last post but I didn't want it to take over my reply:

A fairly big amount of my friends/people I knew in high school came to the same university as me (affiliate college at Western so same programs as main but small community, seems like more off campus students which we are), probably about 5 of us came right out of high school (myself) and another 10 or so came after an extra year or finishing up their grade 12 year. Almost all of us are in the same program and our majors are all relatively similar. The few of us who had already been there for a year gave out tips on what classes to take and who to take classes with and who to avoid. Just trying to help out and be good guys right?

Turns out no one really listened on the profs or which classes to take or tips on how to do well  Now we hear the "ya I should have listened there".

For myself? I usually take the advice people give me as they have been through the situation before.

Anyone else find that some people just REALLY hate taking advice and avoid doing it as much as possible? Ultimately I understand its peoples own decision but I won't lie I'm 20 and I still take the advice my parents, grandparents and friends give me. In the last year or 2 I've learned that having been through experiences is so helpful when making decisions.

Also, what does everyone in here prefer 1) a schedule that fits good time wise or 2) a schedule that has good classes and good profs but not the greatest times?
