I don't know what you guys are smoking but Bertuzzi looked GREAT tonight. A little unlucky, but I love the tenacity and I especially love those bombs he threw after he poked at Allen's pads. We need more 'bastards' to quote Jose Mourinho.

I liked his cherry-picking set play and how scrappy he is on every play. He’s like a bad kid from the wrong side of the tracks. In a good way!

Man, just watching the highlights again and ive never seen a player flub as many routine plays as Lilj does.

He looked pretty smooth in preseason and then just jittery on open night. Don’t like that composure level.

Liljegren has always been like that and that’s always worried me about him being a top 4 guy. Overall I thought he looked fine today but when he flubs routine play he makes me nervous. Hoping he works those out of his game.

Ya it was rough, at 24 years old its a really big year to see if he is a top 4 guy or another Dermott essentially

Think people are over reacting a bit about the defence atm. 3 of their goals shouldn't of happened. 2 from bad turnovers by Brodie and Liljegren and that Caufield PP goal was just an unlucky fluke goal. We also held them to under 25 shots if I remember correctly so I'm not too worried about the defence just yet, especially when Samsonov can be much better. Liljegren does need to get new sticks though. These whiffs happen to him every game and it just can't be happening this often. He needs to figure that out.

I really really really really really wanna go to the scabs board and post this

I like how Bert was jabbing the goalie whenever he had the chance. Hopefully, Domi starts doing that too.

I know he had a hat trick but I wouldn’t say Matthews is “back”. Don’t get me wrong it’s great that he can adapt his game to still be a threat without the big shot, but he’ll be “back” when he’s wiring unstoppable shots through the defender’s feet from the circles again. The threat of that shot opens up so much space for everyone else.

Regarding the stick, I find that to be a very curious question. Having never played with a modern stick, would one v another make enough difference to affect control. Hey, a Vic was a Vic, leave me alone. 😉

Steve Simmons is an idiot, I’m not sure why he is still able to ask questions to the players.

That shot isn’t available anymore not because Matthews isn’t back. But because teams are completely taking away time and space. We’re going to see Matthews have that shot clean anymore.

I have no clue tbh. I know back when Easton made sticks I tried out the Iginla curve once because I always used Sakic and wanted to try something new and I had the same problem as Liljegren with whiffing and the puck just seemed to slide right under the blade when I went to take a wrist shot. Idk if it was because the blade was much thinner or what but it was no good for me.
