What's misleading?
It suggests that we were a poor defensive team that suddenly improved because of Berube. When actually, we were a good defensive team that was poor defensively for one season as a result of poor decisions by Treliving, and now we have returned to our previous defensive results because of better decisions by Treliving.

Yep, he brought in some good players and the Coach has them playing well.
Seems much better this year than last, I don't think anyone is trying to mislead.

Funny, TSN just put this up.

Issues with the article aside, it at least shows a longer history of even strength defensive results, and we can see that the main difference so far through 20 games has been goaltending performing at a much better rate at even strength relative to the entirety of previous seasons.

Except there have been multiple stats shared around how they are defending better in the slot and high danger areas. Even just looking at their HDCA, this is the best they have ever performed (only Minnesota is better this season so far) with this group, and they have been excellent at suppressing rebounds. Goaltending has been great but the team is also making their lives easier.

Compared to last season, when we abandoned defense. Not compared to other seasons. Which is why the comparison is only ever to last season.

Nope. I went on MoneyPuck and Natural Stat Trick and verified this myself for the last five years. Some discrepancies between the two but generally the other seasons Leafs ranked between 9-14 in high danger chances against, which was good to average. They are firmly elite this year, even medium danger they rank at the top.

This was all 5v5 to be clear.

Also Siegel just posted an article which shows how much Tanev has made a difference and is basically playing at a level defensively that nobody prior to him here, including Muzzin, has with this regime.

If you look at specifically high danger chances against at specifically 5v5, then yes, we've done a bit better, but it's come at the expense of generating our own high danger chances, and our overall defensive results aren't any better. Tanev has done well so far at the quarter mark of his 1st year as our #4 defenseman, but let's be real. He wishes he could be as good as Muzzin.

Keep moving those goal posts.

But you've already moved them so much.
Your act is beyond pathetic. All I did was rebuff that this is their best defensive performance and you turned it into a discussion about offense (when 6-7 of our starting forwards have been missing time) and just straight up gaslighting that the 'defensive results aren't better'.
