Dubas isn't going to help the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Probably not. I’m just saying he’s exactly what this team needs for a big playoff run. If not him then definitely should be aiming for the next best available C who could be on the market.

Keep our mascot’s name out your f***ing mouth! :sarcasm:

That whole incident was so blown out of proportion. I get this is not a hockey comment but anyone talks about my wife like that would get more than just a slap in the face. There is making jokes and then there is mocking someone, I think Chris went a little over the line, making fun of someone who has a disease for having that disease is out of bounds IMO. Then again I have more self respect than to be married to a woman like Jada.

Basketball is scripted and closer to wrestling than anything.

Have 3 good seasons sign a nine digit contract and play 50% of the time, that is a pretty sweet deal .

Is this where Robertson goes in a goal streak? Weak opponents coming up. Hopefully the flood gates open and someone bites on a trade for him.

I think we are all thinking the same thing. Leafs Nation United

WOW, that is crazy!! If someone was doing a Ph D in Sports Science, that would be an interesting phenomena to write a thesis about, I'd read it TBH. Why do some teams perform better without their best player?

It's not like we were on fire with our five on five scoring when he was gone. Is it our team just plays better? Is it that the opposing teams are not as amped up to defend because the big dog is not there? So they kinda come down in their level of performance? Is it a "we" thing or a "they" thing? A combination of the other team plays less hard and we play more hard?

You’d probably need a full season injury that gets filled in with a Domi + Bertuzzi type 1-year gapfiller UFA signing to compare against.

9 missed games against west coast bottom feeders in November might have only been 3 games against divisional contenders in March if we were fighting for a playoff spot, timing on the injury probably plays a big role in the record. Calling up a guy like Minten running on adrenaline or a desperate AAAA AHL journeyman only lasts for a few games.

Basketball they call everything, where the NHL refs are so inconsistent and seem to make “suspect” calls at crucial points in games or just ignore obvious penalties. It’s almost like the NHL is in cahoots with sports betting

Don't agree. Stars get the foul calls every time. Lesser players never do.

Agreed. Surprised that joke made it out of the writer's room, disease aside...G.I. Jane references? in 2022? Yeeesh.

Glad the Leafs won this game, don't need to see another 4-1 collapse in my lifetime.

Those Refs last night were terrible.

Pathetic effort by the Leafs at the end of the game there. No way that should have gotten that close.

Wonder how Minten would look with Marner and McMahon. When lineup is healthy if and ever when:
Kneiss Matthews Domi (some very good mix there last year)

Patches JT Nylander ( this line was hot before the injury bug)

McMahon Minten Marner ( M & M line.. Marner is getting a ton of ice now playing in "ALL" situations
(Minten could really benefit from playing with Marner, and both Marner
(and McMahon are defensive responsible)

Lorentz Kampf Grebenik (bang, crash and forcheck. There is some size grit and skill there as well)

Dewar/Reeves

Trade Robby, Jarnkrok, Holmberg.

Keep the door open if an impact third line centre becomes available, but if Minten works out.......
I have had the same top three lines in my mind too. It's difficult to break up Marner and Tavares, but as you said Tavares and Nylander worked well together earlier in the season.

I like a fourth line of Lorentz Dewar XXXX

With XXXX being Steeves, Holmberg, Reaves, Grebenkin, Kampf.

I would also like to see McMann on the fourth line and maybe see who takes the third line W role with Minten and Marner. Robertson? A. Nylander? Grebenkin?

Yep, that’s why it doesn’t even bother me anymore. NHL officiating is by far the worst of the major sports.

I think the NFL refs have more impact on the game than any other sport. When a team has 8-11 possessions a game and a ref can calls a phantom hold etc, it’s so hard for teams to overcome that. Then you have the whole PI crap.

Difference is, basketball just call everything. It’s the inconsistency in the NHL and ignoring obvious penalties based on how the game is going. The whole league is bush league.

The NHL is bad because the refs are never accountable. McCauley is a known leaf hater.

Why is the NHL the only sport that changes its rules in the playoffs? We have witnessed it for decades but fans proclaim it’s “heart” needed to overcome …which I always get a laugh out of it.
