Why hasnt he then? He didnt scratch Hank, he gave him a rest and gave Talbot a few starts. Its not the same

If our big time players aren't playing well he seems to use demotion as incentive.

Hank was benched for a 2 game period earlier. Came back and started playing a little better. Problem is, he's been inconsistent. He'll make huge saves, he'll let up the easiest goals. It's about focus. Easy goals aren't a product of a declining player, they're a reflection on that player's focus. Let's see if Henrik comes out with the same determination and fire he has come out with for the last 7 years after this Talbot period.

Using how AV has handled poor performing players thus far this season, I can say that Nash could be dealt with in the same way if he doesn't pick up his play naturally in the coming weeks.

Whether Nash's feelings are hurt is irrelevant. Time to put on the big boy pants. What is relevant, is helpful or not, what is it in AV's coaching history that tells you that he will bench a team's purported best highest paid player?

He pretty much benched Luongo for an entire season.

Its funny when Nash first came back he was much better. usually after a concussion it takes some time but he was playign well. However he has actually gotten worse as games have gone on. Stepan hasnt had 1 great game all year even his hat trick game wanst particularly good. If only these guys can catch fire

I think a Nash scratch for a few games is overdue. If he was gonna do it, he would have done it already. I'll be very surprised to see Nash scratched

-Stepan and Nash has never played well together. Ever.

Stepan/Nash/Hagelin was a good line last year.

-Nash is playing under the above conditioned in a city where he faces a ton of superstar expectations and is fighting it a bit overall right now.

-Nash has had concussion problems lately.

It's unfortunate if players lose game in NYC due to expectations. You would think a mentally strong player wouldn't let that happen. If Nash is a player who "can't do his best in NYC," well then we should get rid of him.

I have my doubts about this argument given that hockey is definitely not the #1 focus in New York. Maybe it would hold in Toronto.

If Nash really is worried about more concussions, or has symptoms or anything, and it affects his game, that is a real problem. I'd rather he sit than expose himself to further injury.

It's sad for him and disappointing to the fans. It may well be the problem.

Not sure if it's just a confidence thing right now, but Nash's decision-making has declined lately along with his engagement level. I don't know what the hell he was thinking in OT. If Team Canada knew what was best for them, they wouldn't select him to be on the roster.

Disgraceful is a nice way of putting it.

If we were a year or so in to this debacle and Henrik was still floundering and playing like a washed up has-been, I could understand the concerns, and a want for getting out of his contract.

At this point, with how bad this entire team has been, and Henrik having what amounts to the worst stretch in his career after 7 years of nothing but the best, it is absolutely criminal reading the reactionary ******** on this board.

People have no problem defending inconsistent nothingmasters like Derick Brassard who have done nothing, and brought nothing to this franchise, but willingly take a verbal dump on the one beacon of hope and success this team has had since the second lockout.

I'll admit Henrik has probably been the best and worst thing to happen to this franchise in a long time. If he doesn't show up, maybe they flop a few years and end up with some of the past half-a-decades really nice draft picks, but on the other hand maybe Glen Sather continues his streak of making egregious errors and we'd still be in the Dark Ages of Rangers hockey.

No matter how you slice it, Henrik has brought great moments to this franchise including a Vezina caliber season that lead to an ECF, that if he had only had goal support in from the rest of his finish inept teammates, would have led to a SCF at the very least.

These boards are the worst. Absolutely the most irrational and ungrateful group I've ever met. Especially with what Glen Sather has brought this franchise over the past 13 years.

Edit: For the record I believe Lundqvist absolutely deserves criticism when he plays poorly, it's the stuff beyond that, that is uncalled for.
This post should be stickied to the top of HFNYR for all to see. Bravo.

Imagine? This board would lose their minds.

What a concept. Our big time players actually playing well... What's it feel like? I forgot the feeling.

Doesn't make sense to keep discussing it. It's hypothetical. AV could do it, he could choose not to do it. Doesn't matter which one of us is right in this scenario. Whatever helps the team, nah mean?

Oh my god, let's be friends. :yo: Thank you for taking the time to write something WELL that communicates how a lot of us feel.

My god McDonagh just absolutely stealing that puck from Kessel <3

Seriously, that was straight up larceny. Defensive play of the year. :amazed:

McD is a hero. Probably the only guy on this team right now whose jersey is worth the price tag. I'd wear that **** with serious pride. :D

Look at my post on the McD appreciation thread (last post on page 1). Discuss.

You know, this is one thing I don't get. Nash carried this team ALONE during tbig parts of the regular season LAST season. He was on pace for 80 pts on a full year and 40 goals.

I mean, it's last year. You don't remember that? I can get a little dazed when it comes to remembering how Robitalle looked 14 years ago. This is what, 7 months ago?

He had a bad PO and it was like that entire season was erased and he should play on a 4th line in the AHL. Only JJ has been as dominating during a regular season for us as Nash was last year since the Cup years.

Sure, he is fighting it this year. But during like two weeks ago he scored two fantastic goals that gave us 1-0 leads.

Hockey is a team game. You will get up and down efforts from stars. This is no exception for NY. That is RIDICULOUS. But, they can have an impact.

Nash will never make this team. Could in see him -- in perfect form on a great team in a good environment -- break a deadlock I the PO and score a really important goal? Yes I can. We have nobody else that can do it by themselves.

This maybe coming to a theatre near us if Cam continues to win and hank continues to be inconsistent. Technically, Hank won't be our highest paid player until next season?

The last time I consider a player holding the team on his back was debatably Gaborik and if not him then certainly Jagr. I was using a hyperbole. At no point do I believe that Nash has carried our team. Not last year, not this year.
