The amount of vitriol for a 2-2-1 start is pretty insane. Almost unbearable around here. Worst shooting percentage since 2006 too.

I'm sure it'll be fine, yes, even if they lose this game.

Yeah but they're not gonna lose this game, and if they do I'm taking a week cleanse from this board, if we get beat by an AHL team tonight it would be akin to Hiroshima in here.

it'll be fine if we don't make the playoffs. It'll be fine if we lose in the first round.

it'll be fine. always.

we are fans of the Leafs.

See now, the game is 4 hours away from puck drop and already the negative horsepuckey and vomitus of the past is dripping all over these pages and is bound to get worse.

So that's it for me today, please try not to be emotionally scarred and overtaken with useless levels of anger over things you have no control over. Use whatever bits of logic left to help spread the blame on both the deserving and undeserving players whom will always and ever remain the unforgiven, for making your lives so totally miserable.

You know for whatever reason this upcoming screw up tonight sort of reminds me when they traded that 1st rounder for Owen Nolan, or maybe it was the 1st and 2 2nds for whoever that other guy was.

Looks like last playoffs really was the one that broke the camel’s back. It is surprising though, it really is another level so far and I’m right there with the people who are fed up. The frustration is boiling over.

Wow, Liljegren in, what a brave lineup, Mr. Keefe. Of course for Dermott? Wtf? My once high Keefe approval rating is dropping more and more.
I think it's going to take at least 10-15 games of Holl's poor play to justify 2 of Sandin, Lilly, and Dermott in the lineup .

...I'd still wait a month in order to make any sort of assessment.

Trying to do that. Expected more last night. It's always about 15 games in you really have any idea what a team is... but tonight for me is still a show me game. Too many guys are no shows in the first 5. Not just points but they look off. Not in panic mode but concerned with a few players forsure.

Im just as frustrated as the next guy and I get the emotions but like... I feel like taking a step back and understanding that it's so early in the season and it hasn't been THAT bad. The hot takes about random stuff is really weird. Marner and Matthews aren't going to stay at 0 goals for very long.

Dermott has been solid but... He doesn't really provide much? I don't understand what people see that deserves to be lauded like he's been amazing compared to anybody else.

Who else are you going to take out? Holl and Muzzin kill the majority of penalites and play a lot of tough minutes defensively, and Holl already missed a game due to illness, Rielly and Brodie are obvious. Sandin has been much better than Dermott... so... If you want Liljgren to play, you need to sit out someone.

It's not the lack of points/goals that concern me, it's their level of effort. Or lack of effort for that matter, that is concerning.

Yes. Dermott has been good though as numbers like xgf% show while he's been with Sandin. The issue is that Keefe is sitting him instead of Holl who has been just woeful to start the season and was the same for a lot of last season and into the playoffs as well. He gets no credit for playing tough defensive minutes if he hasn't been doing it well for a number of games now.

Matthews was great in his first game. Marner was pretty good in the first 3 or so games and probably deserves a lot more than 0 goals. Some players have risen, some have fallen. I don't think there's a notable lack of effort, but that San Jose game is very fresh and it was bad for sure.

It's not a sprint. It's a long season.

Every year lately, this team has come out of the gate flying and racking up points only to fail in the first round of the playoffs.
I am not reading too much into this slow start and see it as a change of pace...hopefully for the better.

Matthew's missing camp has obviously affected him and his game so far.
I reckon they will come good soon.

Yep. And while he didn't look great last night, Matthews didn't have a proper preseason due to surgery recovery. He's going to take a few games to find his consistency.

Leafs fans obviously are more than justified to not be satisfied with how the team has played, but there's also no escaping certain things like this.
