Yeah yeah ive seen your numerous posts talking about that. One difference no matter weather you like it or not OV scored those 7 50 goal and 1 65 goal campaign in the same season. Not part of one and part of the next combined.

To be fair like I said. Once AM hits 50 the convo can begin. Once he does it 8 times and hits 65... then the real talk can begin.

he's what a lot of people thought Simmonds would be. Meh at 5v5 but strong around the offensive zone net and plays that spot well on the PP.

But they didnt.

The actual goal totals are what matters.
Not this analytical jibber jabber about expected goals etc.

In order for AM to be a 50 goal scorer he has to actually hit 50. As it stands hes a perennial 40 goal scorer who would have hit 50 if covid didnt strike and who will hit the mark this year maybe.

Blame cocid blame whatever. Hes not a 50 goal scorer till he does it. Hes not better then OV until he has 8 50 goals seasons and cracks off more then 60 at least once.

I mean, its not like being second to OV is anything to laugh about. Pretty damn happy if we get to watch him chase OV for the next 15 or 20 years.

Matthews doesn't have to surpass Ovechkin's entire career to be better than him right now though.

He could be better then Ovi right now and it has absolutely nothing to do with the previous decade of dominance he has had. Like who is better today has nothing in any way to do with his career totals. None.

Point is... no matter how awesome AM is atm...OV is the king. Takes a lot to knock the king out... more then 11 goals anyways.

Both are playing currently.
Both are amazing
One is the King
One is the heir apparent
OV isnt dead.

Not what we need at all. We have Rielly and Sandin in that mold and Brodie is also a capable offensive D. We need more Muzzin's.
