You do realize that Saturday will be montreals 3 game in 4 nights and then off for 5 days then they play crazy amount of games in a short time. The schedule is what it is every team has good and bad stretches when it comes to the schedule.

3 in 4 is coming off a 3 day rest. Next Saturday they come off another 6 day rest to magically play the Leafs again who are coming off 5 games in 8 days. They are also well rested playing them again at the end of the season. They never play them on the 2nd half of a back to back. I heard the scheduler was from Montreal. Starting to believe it.

Side note. Just an observation. I have noticed over the last few years a team playing 5 games in 8 nights loses a very high percentage of those games. And often badly. 6 in 9 is essentially guaranteed loss night. Little tip for the pro line players.

And we have Dermott, Liljegren, and Sandin to replace Holl, who came out of nowhere himself. Nothing close for Kerfoot, and we'd have to expose both Holl and Kerfoot anyways. The thing is we only lose one of them, and I don't think it is a big enough deal to warrant protecting either even though it would be probably be one of the top priorities to replace either of them through UFA.
It may be one of those heh look take Kerfoot and we will give you a 2021 2nd rounder ... 2021 is maybe worst draft year ever so it means very little ... then we sign a UFA centre who is a little bigger and stronger defensively for less CAP $$$ so we have more CAP space ... I could see a deal like that occurring ... but if not and Seattle really wants Dermy or Holl (I would give up Holl 1st) then so be it we can't get desperate

I doubt we do any deal to protect him. He's not worth an asset to save.

Teams got absolutely screwed with these deals last go around
He certainly is worth a asset to save but thats neither here nor there. We can protect both Holl and Dermy. Kerfoot is the odd man out for multiple reasons. Dubas won’t sign our Ufa’s until after the draft. Do a quick calculation from this article assuming none of our Ufa players are signed until after the draft. Its simple and dubas should trade Kerfoot for a assetWho will Maple Leafs lose in Seattle Kraken expansion draft?
Ah man i hate this exp draft

Why would we be talking about trading Dermott? This season has already shown has imperative NHL quality depth is. We are a contending team so trading for futures or prospects makes no sense and trading for another NHL d is a lateral move. Can we just focus on continuing the success we have had instead of constantly trying to change what has been a working/winning formula for once.

Because we have two first round picks who need to either prove they can play or we need to move on from them. We need to know. Both of which also have more tools then Dermott.

Dermott does nothing remotely special. Hes a "fine player" in the 5-6 slot. He doesnt have the tools to do whats necessary to get above that position. He doesnt hit. He doesnt score. His shooting and passing are medicocre. Hes not particularly great at zone exits or clearing the crease. Hes just a mediocre defenseman all around.

I dont dislike Dermott. Hes just nothing special in the context of this team.

Explain why we have any need to complete this assessment during a season we are having unparalleled success and in the middle of a winning streak. We literally have zero need to do anything just because a first round pick is a shiny new toy is the exact wrong reason to make a change.

Petan and Engvall back in :vhappy:
I kinda only like the Engvall back in more sire. Although after saying that: I PREDICT PETAN WILL BE SCORING ON THAT LINE he plays. Think how deep that one goes sire. I like the Engvall, the real manly man getting back, but still predict petan will score because of tavares and nylander. That goes deep.

And don't be alarmed sire, there are habs fans in our site, because they are jelious to OUR MONEY, OUR TALENT and OUR SUCCESS. We have all of them scoring power now, the money, the power and the personel. We can't be stopped anymore. The streets is talkin like "I want to be like the maple leafs cuz." The other guy said: "Why can't we have scoring personel like that in our club?" The other girls said: "Lets go to the club cause the party tonight is in the club." Like the man said: "Our club doesn't have such speed and talent they do."

They are jelious sire, but don't be alarmed.

winning the games against Montreal and finishing first in the division would be huge, and hopefully the Leafs do everything in their power to accomplish that. Montreal is a very strong team this year

In a normal year, playoffs are around ~95 points to be guaranteed a spot. My napkin math says this is around 66 points this schedule.

This means we need around 23 wins to clinch a playoff spot in 43 games or around .500. Something like 20-15-5 would guarantee home ice in the playoffs. Very doable.

Beating the Habs in this mini series (2 games to 1 at least) MASSIVELY increases playoff odds and odds of winning the division. Why does it matter? Well when we clinch we can start resting guys. Rotate Freddy more, decrease ice time on our F's and D, roll 4 lines more often. Most importantly, we can focus on improving areas of our game without pressure of winning.

I wouldn't want them to go all out to come first in the division. The goal is being successful beyond the regular season, not finish first. It would be nice, but I wouldn't give a damn if they came in 2nd.

the goal should be (and is) to do as well as possible in the regular season to set themselves up for playoff success. The Leafs would have been a lot better off last year if they didn't finish 13th in the league and get stuck in a play in series against CBJ

We need a great start, and a great full game effort from the boys tonight. This is one of those important games for the squad. #GoLeafsGo
