thanks for the laugh
-the Marlies won a Calder with the players supplied by the parent club , it also helps we usually outspend everybody , unfortunately that hasn't helped with Dubie running the show
-what i know came out of Lou's mouth which gets denied endlessly for some strange reason
-Lou isn't perfect but did you expect him to completely rebuild the team after tearing it down in 2 yrs ? and keep in mind i never heard anyone screaming we should be trading for D the summer we finished dead last and drafted Mathews
and let me get this straight , your craping on Lou for not being able to win a cup in the 2 yrs following our dead last finish but are praising Dubas for um , i have no idea , lol , maybe it's the geriatric D that's your impressed with . lol
you literally can't make this stuff up
and here's what that genius Dubas has built us in 4 yrs going into his 5th so far
G - no num 1 and a massive cap dump in Mrzarek
D - an old soft declining D core , hell he can't even sign his pet without any drama
F - the 3 standout kids he inherited who are now in there prime , a grossly overpaid declining 11m C and after Bunting who's a solid 3rd wheel on our top line he has nothing
and this is what you believe we should be praising ?
I'm not craping Lou for not winning the cup. It was way too early on our window to win with our team. I crap on Lou and Hunter on not having any meaningful impact players left out our roster, that is something that we can judge them off. Lou had one big addition during his tenure and it was Freddie Andersen, it did it end well here and he shat the bed in all game sevens he played here.
Same goes with Hunter, he was brought here to fix our scouting and he failed miserably. It just fact, outside of our big three we didn't do jack shit and you could argue that Dave Morrison did better job before him. Hiring Hunter you could actually pin on Shanahan, but you never do, because your so fixated on Dubas.
Like it or not Marlies won championship under Dubas guidance, if you want to push your agenda that he was pushed a side by Lou you can't discredit of him fixing the Marlies. It's either way and he didn't have any top prospects there to really build that success on, all of our big names came almost straight to Leafs. He made good additions to those Marlies rosters and Holl is actually playing for the Leaf as player Dubas brought into Marlies.
I have time to argue with you because your bias is so skewed that you don't ever get it. If you want to look up to this team and argue about it you should have some sort of eyes to watch whole picture with Lou included and also be able to look around the league. Every successful rebuild have consisted good defenders and Lou didn't brought in any. Not a single defender. Nada. Dubas brought in Muzzin, Brodie, Holl, Lyubushkin, Ceci, Barrie etc. If you look up to Islanders Lou is one of the few GMs that have botched top pair defender to other franchise. He basicly gave away #2 defender of championship team, what a blunder.
We are so concerned that our young stars won't resign but actually Lou is one that lost one of his key UFAs in Parise to UFA and is in danger with Barzal. If Dubas would have failed in that earlier you would paint with pretty wide brush all those threats Dubas existence pose to us, because of his history.
There are tons of RFAs unsigned and you're worried about Sandin because of some radio guys. Usually Dubas has fixed his problems so I assume that will be fixed eventually or we can get back to it around training camp if that situation is still on.
At the moment I would praise on Sakic, but other than that there isn't that many teams that can sleep their night that well. Boston is in decline, Tampa and Florida are bleeding assets and many rebuilding team is struggling to climb into playoff picture. Penguins are in trouble, Philadelphia is still work in progress. Even Avalanche will have hard time signing their #1 goalie and are losing their #2 center.
Actually I'm pretty happy that we have our defense mostly set and Kerfoot is also good value piece for us. His 5on5 scoring and versatility is pretty nice and if we cry about Kadri he was failure until this years playoffs. So if we win next season Kerfoot in our roster we can also celebrate that trade as a win, so I won't count my chickens until they hatch.
Look around league how many teams are you really jealous of? I'd argue Rangers at the moment, because they have Shesterkin and Fox. Latter who forced his way into Rangers and fell into their lap.
Look up the overall picture and argue after that you want to restart our rebuild into another 10 year cycle, that you're basicly argumenting by bashing our core. If they're so flawed should we just start over? I don't believe that and I also understand that changing GMs probably means at least season or two slow down here, because he has to assess this whole organization from top to bottom. Do you understand that. It's doable, but there isn't that many cup winning GMs with great resume available.
