I agree, it makes sense to build around the under 25 year olds.Another underrated fact about this trade is that although he may not be a ‘major piece’ he does fit the McKenna/Cowan/Koblar timeline being just 24, but also fits into the Matthews/Nylander core as well and someone that can contribute now. Those are the type of players we should target imo.
25+ core: Matthews, Nylander, OEL, Tavares, McCabe, Stolarz, Carlo, Tanev
Under 25 core: McKenna, Knies, Cowan, Koblar, Danford, AA, Hilldeby, Andrae, COL 1st etc
It would be wise to start building around these under 25 players. It would be nice to target some other under 25 year olds like a Bystedt or Graf type player. Maybe Bourque but I doubt he’s available.
It's a weird one because you see fans annoint a guy a future core peice and if another teams wants him it will cost.for those who hate this trade, what kinda value do you guys think Woll had?
I’m generally curious on what kind of return people expected.
I would start with Stolarz/Hildeby in a tandem. Stolarz need good stats to up his value. If there is an injury AA steps into the tandem.I still think there is a shot that Stolarz goes as well for a more stable solution to pair with the 2 young guys.
Is it realistic the split next year is:
Stolarz 30ish games
Hildeby 30ish
AA 20ish
Doesn’t seem ideal to me.
He got hurt in the last minute or so of game 6.What happened with Woll in game 7 against Boston again where he couldnt play? I cant remember its all a blur
That's most likely the only way they will keep. He has arbitration rights so qualifying him would be a bad option imo.there's no way Ersson gets a QO so maybe they try and bring him back on a two way UFA deal and he can back up AA for the Marlies.

Chayka won this trade. Not easy to find a trade partner who wants to overpayPhilly should give us our 1st back while we're at it
I mean I get it. If you are a Leafs fan and have been watching him for the past couple years you could see the potential and he plays probably the most important position on the ice.People have no idea what they're talking about. A good comparison is Stuart Skinner.
Skinner is younger, lower cap-hit, more GP, more durable, and made 2 Cup Finals and basically was traded for negative value. Woll has slightly better numbers than Skinner. Skinner had a career save percentage of .904 when he was traded (with double the GP of Woll) versus Woll at .906.
The fact we got a possible PMD + a 3rd is good value.
I know people are going to miss the tank commander, but we don't have our pick next year. Finished the season with 3 straight games in April with a sub .827 save percentage in each one of them was masterful tanking by Woll. It might have been the best tank commander I've ever seen.

Really no point in a two way deal as he needs waivers anyways. The only thing that changes for him is salary at that point. If you keep him no harm in a 1 way deal at a buriable amount.there's no way Ersson gets a QO so maybe they try and bring him back on a two way UFA deal and he can back up AA for the Marlies.
Of course he did, that’s his problem, unreliable and made of glass, not to mention going AWOL for some secret reason at the beginning of last season. He got hurt in the last minute or so of game 6.
Anything’s possible but not probable. Not "if", it's when. No way in hell Stollie lasts all season long without any IR stints.
