It'll be interesting to see what they do when Thornton comes back. Anyone he replaces is a much different player in a much different role

I can’t see Keefe putting him on the wing in the top 6 if they’re rolling like this.

Maybe a Kerfoot-Thornton-Mikheyvev third line?

Our 1st line is lights out but I'm starting to get nervous about the lack of scoring from the 3rd line. This line has been ice cold, even against the sloppy defence of the Nucks which has given up 13 goals in 2 games.

This is an unpopular opinion, but I have really tried to focus on the third line the last two games and I have to say I like them together.

I think Vesey makes a lot of smart little plays that go a long way into our success.

I have also noticed they generate a lot of zone time, but don't really create all that many scoring chances, but they keep the puck for the majority of the shift and don't give up a lot of chances.

Kerfoot and Soup are snake bitten right now and if the puck starts to go in, that line in my opinion does the job.

Canada wouldn't need expensive stealth F-35's if Jimmy Vesey was a pilot because the guy is completely invisible. Mikheyev is giving it like some labourer in the shop truck doing burn-outs in the parking lot with a rock-on hand gesture sticking out of the smoke. Do the refs hate Kerfoot? He leads the team in penalties... drawn!

They’re not a liability defensively and they’re also not a heavy forechecking line so if they’re not scoring they seem pretty meek so this is a good observation

That (apparent) set play on the PP where Matthews looped way out of the zone then snuck in behind the net for a 1 time attempt was a thing of beauty. Almost like a basketball play.
Its nice to have set plays, the Pens had them all the time when Sid and Malkin were young. Give and go's almost like the harlem globetrotters. lol

Malholtra is giving each units different looks to keep teams in their toes and I’m liking it.

To start that last PP they had Matthews in the bumper spot and Kerfoot on the half wall to start. Perfect time to try something different.

I think we’re seeing why they’re giving a long look at Lehtonen. He is a really good offensive player. He has a knack of getting his shot through to the net. Reilly could learn from him. He does need to work on his defence. Another solid game from Brodie and Bogosian. Muzzin and Reilly were horrible.

I’m really concerned about our second and third lines. This is a game where we didn’t need their scoring but against the top teams they have to contribute more.

Mathews and Marner are finally developing some serious chemistry and it's is glorious.

Hopefully Simmonds is okay.

Boyd should be a fixture on the 4th line, at least until Jumbo and Robertson get back
