Surprised Bunting didn’t get credited with the secondary assist on Kerfoot’s goal. Don’t think Ottawa ever gained possession before Willy passed it to Kerfy
Ya they did. Willy intercepted the pass between Ottawa players to setup the goal. Was expecting it to be removed. Though bunting is such a spectacle very glad we have him!!!

sorry ottawa PP goal*

also he was getting beat by Stutzle a lot down the right side. His gap control needs a lot of work. Idk I think we over hype our prospects, outside of the blocked shot, he wasn’t spectacular. To me Dermott and Sandin are the future of this D core.

Stutzle has elite speed and puck handling abilities, and his wrist shot may be equal to Wille Ny's. He is a superstar in the making.

Scarborough! X2!

Liljegren was quite good other than a couple of noticeable errors. None of those errors cost the team.

I'm not very impressed with Kampf in the defensive zone so far. And I thought that was the main thing he was bringing. He seems good on the forecheck.

Dermott is steady, almost invisible in a good way, on Sandin's right side as Sandin takes chances in the offensive end.

Lil needs a run. Enough of this "you get one game to become a legitimate top 4 or you're out"

I’m not saying he needs one game, but Jesus Christ, let’s not pretend like he was amazing last night. He was not that good. I’m not sure what he is, he definitely needs to play more but if I’m the organization, I think you need to decide whether he’s a big part or move on from him.

personally I rather have spin-o-Rama dermott. I just don’t see Lily as the type of defenseman a lot of people think he is on here. He’s not a stay at home defenseman; I’m not sure why they are trying to build him into that.

For me he looked very good.

The one play where he didn't look too good Muzzen got caught, Lilly had to come over onto the left side and play D with a forward. He got beat to the outside because he had to start from the right side, which is his side.

I feel he made several smart break-out passes in last night's game and played a good defensive game as well.

Just noticed the user name.... not the first time I disagree with you LOL

I don’t have the popular opinion and that’s fine. I feel like as fan base we desperately want our prospects to be amazing. So we over exaggerate their performances. I shouldn’t have said he played like shit. But he was okay. I don’t think he was anything spectacular.

In my opinion I think they either need to let Liljegren play his game which is a puck moving offensive type of game. So he can be what he was hyped to be coming out of the draft. Instead of this weird narrative that he’s all of a sudden a stud defensive defenseman.

at the end of the day Lily is not a high end dman, he’s a 4th or 5th maybe? But like he said it’s year 5, so it’s his time to prove the organization and others otherwise

Nobody thinks he is amazing, but everyone knows he had a good game as the #4.

we also desperately knock them down. Kid is a 22 year old D. Give him 20 games and then put a bullet in him. I have been watching him for a few years with the Marlies. I am as convinced that he can play in the NHL like a Stralman type of D as you are convinced he shouldn’t be given a chance. We will see I suppose.

Some of y’all never fail to amuse me. I never said that he shouldn’t be given a chance. This all started because I questioned whether he had a good game which is fair. He had a few good moments but he had a lot of terrible moments and he looked shaky in my opinion. Of course everyone then piles on and calls me a hater and saying I don’t want him to succeed which is nonsense. I never typed those words.

I want Liljegren to succeed and play a large part for the leafs one day. I hope he does, I was literally just saying I think a lot of people overhyped his performance yesterday. He was OK. Even Sheldon Keefes comments I’m taking with a grain of salt, because I know the organization needs to build him up especially with Holl out. I just want to see Liljegren go out and really grab that spot. I hope he does over the next couple of games.

I don't care if it's popular or not as well. We are all entitled to a balanced opinion. What you typed above I think is.

The bolded part is the most true thing I think I have ever read from you. Props!

always interesting to hear others opinions on my posts . I’m a Marner fan as well so I’m sure a lot of ppl don’t like my takes on him being elite either. Hahaha that’s hf boards though if you’re coming on here to be liked you probably need help. I like discussing hockey and the leafs that’s really it

"I'm not sure what he is"

This is my point pretty much. Let's just give him a large sample size of games. Sink or swim. See what he is once and for all. He's going to make mistakes guaranteed. Need to see how he learns and recovers shift to shift and game to game. Game to game being more relevant. Process post-game and corrections back next game with adjustments. For sake of argument let's assume he has been bad, he's not bad to the point he'll cost us games especially if they let him play with Muzzin.

I think its time to just play him for 9+ games and let him decide his own fate.
