The reason Pavs is getting more critisism this season is not just because of higher expectations of a new contract, it's that he's not exactly getting shelled out there night after night. Last year at times the Jets defense disappeared and hung him out to dry, this year so far that has not happened to a great extent yet Pavs has terrible stats.

Why the hate?

We all have teams, players, fans etc that we dislike for our own specific reasons. For example, I also dislike the Canucks to a large extent because of Kesler, Sedins and Burrows...

I never wish injury or ill towards a player of a team I dislike, but it is my right to like and/or dislike anyone as much as the next fan and Toronto just happens to be one of them.

I find it funny how most people defended Pavs against me on games where he did real bad (IMO), and this game he didn't even play that bad in my mind...

I also find it funny people are crying we're a terrible team when we are dominating even strength... just need to fix our PP SEVERELY... and we're right now out both of the Dmen who take most of the shots on the first and second PP...

Why the **** did we waive Mark Dekanich?

Also... why didn't we sign Jonas Gustavsson? :(

Because Dekanich has lost the starting battle to Pasquale down in St. John's. And even Pasquale has far from shown he is ready for an NHL role down in St. John's.

Signing is a two way street. Teams can't make players do anything. They traded for him, clearly the Jets were interested, clearly Gustavsson was not.

left here on page 3, just read the last 7 pages, some interesting comments:

have to agree that Pavs is seeing less shots this year but is stopping less, no BIG saves this season

PP, PK suck who is responsible Pearn? if he is dump him like Montreal did after only 5 games last season

PP is one dimensional and predictable, PK looks like what they used to do in the late 80's early 90's or ECHL:shakehead

reunite LLW

joki, kane, wheeler hasn't look good since game 3 or 4, wheeler-kane don't mesh

this team is big but doesn't hit, fast but only kane seems to use his speed

signing joki to a $4.5/yr contract doesn't look so good now

wellwood looks done, I would call up Mach ASAP

4th line all but useless, waste of slater hope mittens gets back soon as he has some hockey sense

end of rant

Blaming this on Pavelec is absolutely incorrect. No one is stopping that Kessel shot.
Forwards are not good enough. That penalty on Poni was garbage but them sitting on their heels the minute they took the lead was inexusable.

I'm calling out pretty much every scoring forward on this team right now.

Bingo. That shot was on a string.

Team played well but im really getting sick of Ladd's turnovers, one on the GWG and those two in a row on the half wall on the PP were brutal.

Problem is that he can't play the PP. Maybe if we set him up on one of the dots and let him rip one timers, and pretty much go between that position and in front of the net. Right now our PP is laughably easy to read, which teams are doing.

And I definitely don't agree with you that Toby has been terrible defensively this season.

I've been advocating playing Kane in that role on the pp for quite some time now, but the coaches seem to want him either below the goal line or on the half boards which doesn't make a lick of sense.

While we're on the subject of pavelec, its painfully obvious that our coaches have lost a lot of faith in him. We're playing a 1-3-1 and a 1-2-2 forecheck for the most part and our forwards are playing behind our goalline in the defensive zone. We've held our opponents to under 20 shots in the last two games....so one that score, I give Noel a lot of credit. His goalie is struggling and he changed the system.

That's what I noticed as well the last few games, the Jets have been trapping more than they ever have under Noel's tenure.

thats what, the 3rd or 4th time they've collapsed in the mid-to-late third period? so frustrating.
going to throw this out there as a reason: coaching.

Well obviously theres a whole complex buffet of problems contributing to the Jets woes this season so far. Its not just Pavs. But, theres no denying that he can't be counted on at all to "steal" us a game. If he makes one exceptional save last night, we at least get a point out of the game. Otoh, if the PP connects once, same outcome. We were OK 5v5 last night ftmp - at least at times (although there was at least one occasion in the third where I actually thought the Leafs were on a powerplay when they weren't). But man, the PP was just brutal. The PK wasn't great either. Really, nothing worked all that well last night, lol...

I guess at the end of the day we just have to hope we can get healthy here as we roll along in February, get Byfgulien back, get Bogosian get, get them in the mix and feeling good, hopefully stay healthy in other areas and see what a full roster can do.

One thing is for sure here, without Byfuglien the dynamics of the team change, big time, as do how other teams approach us. We don't have a 'star' forward teams have to watch and keep a constant eye on, but when Byfuglien plays teams do just that with him.

Hopefully we can roll at .500 hockey here until healthy, then pick things up and go on a run.

I still really like our forward depth and don't see how it will fail us, but at the same time (and I touched on this a couple weeks ago) as much as we have some new faces this season, it still resembles what we had last season, and they have a difficult time putting pucks in the net. We have a bunch of mediocre, complimentary forwards, but nobody to carry the load. That means every guy, every game has to really step up. Tough task.

Pavelec and Montoya have combined for a .794 save % with Blake Wheeler on the ice.

How is that even possible? That is embarrassing.

Oy. And Wheeler doesn't even play on the PK.

Is that the worst on-ice save % for any one player in the league? It has to be.

Most of my frustration is not in the personnel but in coaching.... Doing the same thing over, and over again and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. This team defines insanity.

Half of you guys want to kick half the team away. I strongly feel that a lot of them would come back to haunt us on a really well coached team with an actual system that doesn't resemble a chicken with its head cut off running circles in a ditch.

That being said it's easy for me to say get rid of 'X' and move player 'Y'.... I still think we have fundamental issues that would take a phenomenal amount of talent to hide effectively.

I think Noel is a smart man and I applaud some of the unorthodox things he has said, and done that have decent results. But it's like his message doesn't make it through to the team, or his message is simply bad.... or ineffective.
