LOL f*** that ugly rat looking thing called Marchand... and every fan who sees him in the city come playoff time should rip that little prick a new a$$hole... again f*** all Panthers and Bruins players who show their faces in Toronto, no mercy... literally every other fan base hates the Leafs and Leafs fans... we gotta have that us against the world/against all odds attitude imho
During the ‘04 playoffs when the other teams would come to Calgary people would break into their hotel floors and run around with air horns in the middle of the night. We gotta get ruthless.

Well, we made it past the first round. Can't say the same for the Bruins. But at least they had a monumental regular season.
True, hopefully, the trend will continue.

I get that it was a bit of bad luck, getting scored on 6-5, but they allowed a lot of goals 6-5. Some of it has to be psychological at this point. Especially vs Florida !

I'm not looking forward to either of these potential matchups.
Actually the real answer.

It’s too bad we don’t have a better team.

Will Marchand troll us when Marner actually gets 12 AAV ?

Sadly Leafs core 4 forwards are too soft and aren't built to beat either Florida or Boston physical style of play.

Can we out Corsi them ?

Probably not !

SAMsonov is 5 and 9 in the playoffs. Conclusion? Leafs lose unless Woll gets hot.
Always a risk.

Florida and Boston goaltending have them #2 and #3 while the Leafs don't even crack the top 20 where 16 teams make the playoffs.

and the year before, the two teams who made the Cup finals were ranked #8 and #17 going into the playoffs. Boston and Islanders were 1, and 2 last year... both went out in the first round.

Bobrovsky is 29 and 35. Conclusion, you can never win with this guy. Before last years run he was 17 and 29.
A) He was good last year. He also has a defense. Relying on Bobrovsky and his defense isn't scary. Relying on SAMsonov to get hot behind the 20th ranked defense is.

Question:

If Toronto gets pumped in the first round of the playoffs what will happen to Brendon Shanahan?

He has been Prez for 10 years now with only 1 series win to show for it. Will 2 series wins be enough? Treliving has enough savvy and experience to replace Shanny IMHO.

I mean... going into the playoffs, his defense was ranked 17th, and he wasn't good in the regular season. He had a 0.901 last regular season.

We've changed a third of our starting D, so the rest of the seasons stats might not be so important.

Samsonov at times, has lead the NHL is save percentage. The key is team D, including the forwards buying into the plan... we've seen that at times, and not at times.

This was before the last two games... where he was 0.929 and 0.900

""

Samsonov is now 13-3-1 in his last 17 games.

Our team has always been dependent on whether our stars show up, or not... that's it.

I'd rather face Florida then Boston, We just match up poorly against Boston for whatever reason, there powerplay ALWAYS kills us.

The series against Florida last year was closer then what the series score was:

Game 1 = Tied 2-2 till late in the second
Game 2 = Had a 2-0 lead that we blew, along with 2 quick goals against in the 2nd
Game 3 = Lost in overtime, blew 2 leads in this game as well.
Game 4 = Won
Game 5 = Lost in overtime,

Boston is getting carried by goaltending. Their C depth is atrocious, and their scoring is way too dependent on Pasta/Marchand, and their McAvoy-Lindholm pairing also carries too much of the load.

The Leafs' top 3 lines will be too much for a team with only one good forward line and one good D pairing. Only the goaltending can save them.

This is gonna sound biased as hell but they also get some of the most luckiest goals against us too. Like the puck just magically going through 3 bodies to go perfectly on the Bruins player's stick. Like its insane

Sounds like Krejci to me, we should be fine this year !

As crazy as it might sound, the Bruins appear to be the “better” first-round opponent for the Maple Leafs. The Panthers do not have any obvious weaknesses.

I agree... we should match up quite well with Boston. More offensive, far better C depth, more physical... Plus if we are ever going to actually succeed, we just need to get that monkey off the back.

Shanny has been milking it since Montreal series. Stay on for as long as he can without making the major decisions that this team needs. MLSE was making good dough the last 3 years so he didn't want to make any possible moves that might downgrade the $. His next priority is to sell the board this team needed a new GM (in Tre) and hopefully they allow him more time to let Tre rebuild the club so he can cash in a few more years.

This is a long-running canned cynical/conspiracy answer. Evil Capitalism is what's keeping Toronto from...say...getting a better power play defenseman at the deadline. O K...

I also forgot to mention under his watch, he allowed his general manager to build a very soft team for the playoffs.
