Nothing but only more confirmation that the boards fired burke because of his style.

this is just as bad as that woman getting fired in the states because she's too pretty.

Still so shocked.

Apparently Mckenzie just said Gardiner is a non-starter in trade talks. Please be true.

Also I found this interesting:

Odd fact: Nazem Kadri was the only player Burke drafted in Toronto to play for the Leafs.

Not really. That's sexism, where Bell/Rogers just doesn't think that Burke fits in with their organizational culture.

meh its depressing....so scared on whats the future of this team.

same and im surprised

for the love of god i hope kadri is not in.

I know ... Only in Toronto would the GM get criticized for trading our prospects and draft picks, rushing the prospects we have to the show and "ruining" their development, to finally have a legit top prospect be properly developed in the minors for a few years only to finally trade him because he hasn't done anything in the NHL yet

This fanbase doesn't deserve a cup sometimes I feel

sad truth bert....

i hate the owners god damn those suits.

That fact isn't very odd considering that Burke was here for only 4 years, and half of that time, he didn't draft a first rounder.

in that short time he has gathered more first rounders than drafting them

Gardiner, Colborne, Ashton, Kadri and Rielly.

Fact is they just wanted something who was more quiet it seems...ugh I just hope Nonis knows what he is doing.

Biggs, Percy

I like Nonis, I think he'll do well .. Just hope he's learned a few things about drafting since he's got a shaky track record from his Vancouver days .. But I prefer Burke

Im just glad Burkie made some aggressive moves to bring in pieces like Phaneuf, Lupul, and Gardiner, because I think one of the knocks on Nonis in Vancouver is he didn't do enough to get them to the next level. He's a very patient GM. Sometimes too patient apparently.

If he makes a bad trade for Luongo, then I'll be pretty much convinced the owners are using him like a puppet. He said he's more patient than Burke, so giving up good young pieces would go against that.

Hopefully Nonis doesn't draft us any Patrick Whites

don't know if you trolling me atm
point is that he's was fired due to "style".

I'm not, lol.

K, hear me out. There's nothing wrong with changing your organizational structure if the people in charge don't fit in with your organizational culture and how you want your organization to be perceived. However, the opposite side of the argument of course is who cares how your organization is perceived as long as they're making money (aka winning). But the thing is the Leafs haven't been winning so therefore Burke gets fired, however I do think it was too soon. That part, I actually get from MLSE.

I know they're also bull ******** saying that it was performance based cause Nonis was in on all of Burke's moves and decisions. They shoulda cleaned house if it was performance based. That part's simple. What I don't get is the timing. Why didn't they do it back in August/September when they took over the team? There's obviously something else going on (maybe Luongo) And if that's the case I'll be ****ing pissed cause we'd be back-tracking into the days of JFJ where he was mainly just a puppet.

Edit: LOL, why the **** is Good Riddance by Green Day playing on FAN590?

Ah yes forgot about those, whatever the case is....

I know people will hate it but I think we should pull an ottawa retool, firesale those who aren't fitting, get picks in the first round or second round and get good prospects. Move with that

What do you guys think happens if Nonis says no to a Luongo trade as well? I dont think management has the balls to can 2 people in a month.

Oh yeah, Phaneuf and Lupul were former top 10 picks too that people had given up on ... They've done pretty decent for themselves here in Toronto

.. Not to mention Burke also picked up Kessel, and traded a 5th overall pick in Schenn for a former 2nd overall pick in JVR

And if you reeeeeeeeallly wanna stretch it Connolly was also a first rounder  So was Komi :sarcasm:

Gonna miss that so much lol.

Although to be fair it seems like Nonis was the main guy for Phaneuf one so I don't mind that.

Fair enough point and very valid.

One thing is for sure, I'm so glad Burke stole Dion from Calgary. Wow what a deal that was
