How do you guys feel towards this whole Idle No More movement?

I don't understand it 100% but I just want to say it's much harder to be native right now, much moreso than it was before.

I've been getting more and more dirty looks from random people just walking around, even in some shops (smaller mom and pop type places) I'm gettin crappy service or getting refused completely and kicked out of the store.

Got told to "go back to your tribe you dirty Indian" for the first time ever today, like wtf man.

That's not even the worst of it, it's making the news here that a native lady was kidnapped and sexually assaulted and that a native student was picked up by cops and dropped off and left way on the outskirts of town in the cold.

Just this week two of my friends were jumped and attacked by groups of people and had to go to the hospital, and I've heard similar stories from many others.

Like damn, people can suck :(

All that stuff isn't fair but I think that's a garbage movement and I'm not a fan of special treatment for ANYONE. Why does one group get so much special treatment over others? At some point, it's up to the people to better themselves than depending on the government. We're all immigrants at some point and everyone struggled to get where they are (no matter how far up the social ladder that is) and I think that's the way it should be; You get what you struggle and strive and work for.

I know that it sucks but I agree with Hurt on this one, a certain group of people should not get special treatment over others. People just have to learn to change. Also if it is that bad you should carry a blade with you at all times.

Yeah then when he gets stopped by the cops they pretend like he pulled it on them.. Not a good idea.

kamo if I were you, and 6'8, I would've beat the living sheet out of that person. Good think you kept your cool, becasue I think you would have been jumped by a couple more in that case.

I agree with Hurt in this matter. Be careful man, people don't need much of a reason to be vicious right now it seems.

I'd suggest moving away from that area when you can, anyways. It's a well known fact Northern Ontario is quite racist.

Exactly Kamo, you are going away or want to go to college soon right? It will not be much longer until you are back to where all the normal people live :P

It's not about us getting special treatment, it's about us wanting to get equal treatment or what was promised to us in the treaties.

To make it simple its like this.

Each group was given their own little section of land that they had control and could govern over themselves, Bill C-45 changed that by giving the government more control over the little patch of land each group gets.

One of the big reasons for that is because of the mining companies wanting to drill on native land.

It made big news a few years back about a group of native protesters kept this exploration company from working on their land and got sent to jail for it.

Now instead of having say on our land the government gets to make the choice for us.
