Le sigh. On to the next. Kings lose to MIN 4-1

It seemed like the Kings lost a bunch of faceoffs. I know Sutter replaced Richards with Kopitar after MR lost a defensive zone draw. Richards had a decent amount of offensive zone starts and seemed to battle hard but his legs still look shot.

That was Carter, he was awful, 5-14, 36%. And more than a few in the Kings end that created pressure.

Richards and Kopi did fine, Richards (15 faceoffs) 53%, Kopi (23 faceoffs) 57%.

Something I've noticed over the past few game on the pp, the second unit has all forwards. Williams,Brown,Toffoli...no centers. I thought we'd see Richards or even Shore, but nope.
Then we have the Doughty issue, he has no confidence in his shot right now. He had the open net on the pp, plenty of time and just shanked it again, high and wide.He still doesn't have a pp goal, or a goal on home ice. It's something I hope Lombardi talks to him about it, and that he need to work on in the off season.

Shore was 62% as well. Kid is nails.

He's been very good in the circle, which is a great thing for the Kings ,esp if the plan is for him to take over the 3rd line C.

But last night he only took 8 faceoffs. I'm guessing he won't take much more than that tomorrow either, given how Sutter leans on veterans.

Lets hope Carter has a better night at the dot.

Probably true, but if there's one way to endear yourself to Sutter, it's to play smart D and be good and responsible at the details. I'm glad he's not getting overwhelmed and it bodes well for his future with the club. I still think he's more suited to 4C than 3C but I'd be happy to be wrong!

I do too but he's better than Andy, and I don't think they'll have a lot of money to upgrade. I'm hearing that TT will cost more than I'd thought (I assumed he and TP would get bridge deals that totaled 6M, with TP being under , and TT over) and I hope that is the case but some of the rumors coming out of the TSN/CBC hinted that TT's agent might be looking for more. And DL will sign him, we know that but Sekera is asking for 6M or more and with Jones and Shore to sign, that doesn't leave much.
But DL always has a plan...I'm sure he's got various scenarios plotted out.

I've been lobbying all year for Richards to see key pp minutes. It's a natural use of him. His minutes are low, so he's usually rested, his skill level is still high (we're not asking him to be a checking forward)!!! But as things seem with DS, pp minutes are like a reward to your even strength play!!! And thus...

Well atleast now that we are out of a playoff spot we can win again, le sigh

Agree 100% on Richard being wasted collecting splinters on the bench on the PP , but how does that rationale explain Stoll being there and doing NOTHING most of the year? Other than Sutter sees SToll in some unholy light, Stoll has been miserable in every measurable metric all year. Granted MR has been invisible to Sutter since last May, but given how he did in Manchester when he got a coach who recognized what he could do, gave him stabilty with finishers, PP and PK time ,14 pts in 16 games., I thought he'd get at least QB'ng the 2nd unit PP but nope. It defies logic and to have Sutter defend it by saying 'everybody can't play there' is weak.

If you got a point for shooting the puck into the shin pads of an opposing player, Doughty would be this generations Paul Coffey.

Always seem to be the guy that decides "This dominating shift has gone on long enough...time for me to put an end to it with a horrible shot."
