I'm at the Rangers-Knights game, and I've been impressed by Mete's game so far as a 16 year old. He had 7 goals and 23 points in 58 games this year as a defenseman. It's early still, but where does everyone see him going in the 2016 draft?

At this point it looks like he would be a late first/early second, but I would say he could go top 15 if he has a good year in London.

One of the best skaters I have ever seen. Great agility and scary straight line speed.

He is undersized. Gotta be able to play some defense at the next level.

Yeah his speed and mobility are unbelievable.

Mete is a very meticulous player. His stick positioning in defensive coverage is always active, removing the most open lane, and rapidly adjusting in direction as fit. His passes always take into account the body and stick positioning of the recipient, and resultantly right on the mark. That's what makes him such an asset on the power play--his passes are dead accurate and account for minute details.

He's also tremendous breaking out because he can skate out of traffic and danger so easily. A craftsman in transition. If he ever gets caught up, his backchecking speed compensates for it 99% of the time. Also exceptional at closing off gaps. Decent shot blocker.

Nifty backhand. Not much in the way of mustard on his forehand, but accurately places his shots for deflections. Needs to be paired with a top end defensive defenceman as he needs work on winning slot and boards battles.

I figured I'd bump this. Mete has 14 points in 21 games, are there any London fans who can tell me how he's playing and how he's progressing? Obviously he's somewhat overshadowed by a high powered offense, and by most accounts he's only the fourth best draft eligible player on the team behind Tkachuk, Jones, and Juolevi, but how has he looked? Where do you project him to go?

Great skater, but TINY. Listed at 5'10. I'm not buying it. I'll be interested to see where NHL teams value a defenseman of his size (and there are others). Samuel Girard is the head of the "sub-6" foot defenseman class imo.

Watched a handful of London games (have you seen that roster? how can you not?). He's a puck rusher alright. Plays lackadaisically every now and then. Offensive potential is there but he's not consistently engaged. Not 1st round material right now. It's all stuff he can work on, so I think he's a legit prospect. I don't think size is that big of an issue. He would struggle to contain the Getzlaf type of forward but if he figures out the defensive game, the physical one won't be an issue.

I don't get why there isn't more hype around this guy. I have him ranked in my top 20.

Unbelievable skater, great offensive instincts, but no slouch in his own zone; blocks shots, physical, and he's surprisingly strong and good at breaking up the cycle.

He has a bit of Duncan Keith in him.

Good player but I'm curious about how his game will translate to the pros.

Probably because for every smallish offensive defenceman who made it big in the NHL, you can probably find it 2 or 3 who never made it beyond the AHL/being a NHL journeyman.

He's hardly an offensive defenseman, though.

He was far and away the best defender defensively on the Knights.

He's not really an offensive d-man though... He's truly a 2-way guy. I get the size concerns but he's really stocky and well built.

Maybe I'm missing something, but he looks really good to my eye.

He's the type of player I would love to take with a 3rd/4th round pick. He will slip because of size no doubt, but the potential reward for selecting him is very high. Probably as high or higher than most anyone in that range.

Highly doubt he slips out of the 2nd.

He's a mini-Jake Gardiner

Will be an excellent possession player if he pans out to the NHL. Juolevi (for good reason) plays most of the PPs as well too, so he loses out on getting time with that Tkachuk-Dvorak-Marner PP beast, though he still does get some time.

If you get him in the 3rd round it's really good value.

On merit, he probably shouldn't. But GMs and size.....

I think there is a good chance he is still there in the 3rd. GMs start to gamble a little more by there, and by then his value probably outweighs the risk in their minds.

Yep. I can very much see a player like that thriving in a system like the Penguins use now and like the NHL is gearing more and more towards. Smarts and speed and more speed on the back end have never been more important.

Glad other people see it too, I think he has it in him to be another Spurgeon, but hard possibly even a better skater. If the Leafs pass on him at 56 and 61 i'll have HIGH expectations on the players taken instead.

If all the Knights draft eligibles go where they are ranked he's the best value pick, great upside.
