Didn’t only NJ have him as a first rounder? Arguably makes this a bad pick. Not fair to criticize the player for the team’s misstep, though

Are there sources saying NJD were the only team eyeing Mook in the first round? If so share them. Just because draft resources rank him lower doesn't take into account any team preferences/needs. "Best Player Available" is extremely subjective. If Mook has top pairing upside with his size...he is a first rounder in my eyes. Several of the players take just after him look a bit iffy to me as well...

Also, NJD didn't pick again until #84. So, they took their guy.

IMO, there is no criteria that makes this a "bad pick" at this stage. It might be an unpopular pick...but whether it is a bad pick remains to be seen.

I personally love what Fitzy did at the draft and over the course of the entire off-season.

And I hate the Devils.

I don’t, but this seems to be the assumption that everyone’s operating on

I would hazard a guess that this is false. Teams like Detroit and Edmonton have made similar type picks in past years. They draft thinking what players will look like at 22 rather than 18.

An interesting tidbit by Finnish commentator: he said that Mukhamadullin has best passing percentage and least giveaways in the Team Russia in this tournament. His team also has biggest probablity to score a goal when he is on the ice. Of course after those comments Mukhamadullin had problems with the puck in the offensive zone and after that Team Finland scored a goal. Bad luck and careless puck-handling. Overall he has been pretty good in the tournament.

How could you hate the Devils? we seem to be a free win for the Bruins since forever it seems. :ha:

Anyways, Based off the other D drafted around him "ghule, Schneider, Barron, Etc" that he did as good or better then most of them so I think its been a good tournament for him.

Raw raw raw. Might have been the worst Dman on a weak Russian Dcore.

He has flashes of skating and puck carrying but decision making and awareness are below average.

Lots of time to develop but IMO he will bust especially relative to his draft position.

He was the 2nd best defensmen on a weak Russian defense. His decision making? Did you watch any of the games?

Watched every shift.

he was awful. Then again tho I did not like Larionovs system.

He has a booming slap shot but it either hits shin pads or the glass behind the goalie.

thinking part of the game needs to improve A lot for him to sniff NHL.

Not saying it can’t happen.

So all the various stats on previous pages showing that he is one of the Russian teams best D are wrong?

If you wanna quibble about whether he was one of the best Dmen on a really bad Russian Dcore then be my guest.

not a gamble I would have taken if I was NJD but they are swinging for the fences for a home run, right now it’s looking like a bunt strike out.

The way your talking it seems like you took to many pitches to the head.

I wonder how many of those kids careers will be affected by Larionov's poor coaching.

Yeah, that D was bad. But it definitely wasn't the first one or the worst in Russia's history. The outcome is really mostly bad coaching by a rookie coach.

The intervews so eagerly quoted by the canadian press before the tournament now come into a different light. Amirov and Mukhamadulling talking about how they are playing a much more "restrictive"(i.e. structured) system in Ufa(for a finnish coach. That the Canadians of course failed to mention) and Larionov gives them so much precious freedom now sound hilarious. It turns out playing a structured game and thinking about proper defence may be tougher on players, but the laissez-faire coaching by Larionov just loses you games.

In conclusion of this WJC I have to say that no performance of no russian player should be taken without a grain of salt because of how badly coached the team was.

Yeah, besides analytics backing up his play in every way, I also thought he was really good.

In terms of those being down on him specifically from his play at the WJC, the easiest explanation is they were down on the pick before hand and had made their mind up before watching the tourney he would be bad. It's really the only explanation given the consistent praise he is has received by experts and impartial observers at the tourney. Haters gonna hate.

He created account few days ago. He is troll and he knows about metrics, statistics, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if he knows that Mukhamadullin is one of the leaders in pokechecks among defensemen. Zone exits, entries, shot difference, pass accuracy, anything doesn’t matter for him. Don’t spend time on him. Go on.

Mukha wasn’t perfect but he wasn’t bad in this tourney. Every D who was drafted around wasn’t better. Soderstrom and Broberg play worse. Especially Broberg.
I really hope Shakir and Russia will play on WJC with new coaching stuff.

Is there another article or am i missing that from that article? It doesn't seem to specify other than he made a list from 15 scouts?

He asked for the biggest disappointment from 15 scouts. Some received multiple votes as you can see in what you quoted but Mukhamadullin didn't (hence he received only one vote)

Ah i see that now. Going to delete it then, one person's opinion doesn't really matter.
