Parekh is such a limited usage profile he's the most likely to drop in the draft relative to his aggregate ranking. Rare, rare shooting ability and a really nice stretch pass but all the skill in the world and finishing school early can't save his projection from non-existent defense and the potential for getting worked on the cycle by any competent fore checker. Guy just doesn't move his feet or look like he's interested in playing actual defense in his zone. I watched him quite a bit throughout this year hoping he'd dispel some concerns by shifting people's perception of him as a rover with a great shot to a more traditional distributor role(which he did) but really detested his efforts in his own end, too often looked like his controller disconnected and he'd be watching play rather than becoming involved in it. He was super entertaining to follow this year when he was in the other end though......that deception just prior to his release along with the velocity he generates on his shots was a lethal combo that goalies just couldn't handle.

Love Dickinson, if my team were drafting high enough and he was available I would be thrilled to get him. Wide usage profile can fill a variety of roles, size, composure, skating ability, post draft development with the Hunter's, struggling to find stuff not to like here......might not hit 50 points a year? Who cares, you take him and feel good you were lucky enough to be in a position to take him.

Do you think Parekh's defensive ability will prevent him from being an NHLer, or more just from being able to be a top pair guy?

Right now you're talking about a sublime PP specialist that will need to be sheltered on a 3rd pair or given a very responsible partner on a 2nd pairing. He'll get exposed the more minutes you play him so giving him too much is playing with fire. That's why I consider him to be a limited usage profile, he's helping a PP unit and he can help your transition game at ES with his passing but he's a big time defensive liability who will require babysitting. So NHLer with limited usage profile.

Only watching extended highlights from these playoff games but he just has that x factor when he's skating with puck; that is such an important quality in modern NHL; also just so many other qualities it doesn't matter if he becomes an elite scoring D , which he easily still could. Said it on the Sharks board he's my pick as best Dman in the draft and going to stick with it, I wish so bad we could find a way to trade up for him
There’s a way but his name is Will Smith if Dickinson is still there at 5

i think you sell him short. he played big minutes all year for saginaw and they dominated when he was on ice (and were nowhere near as good when he wasn't). nobody is saying parekh is next scott stevens, but he has good stick defensively and is much more effective in his zone than his reputation. he won't be there when 16 rolls around, but if he were i'd grab him.

Was sensational today. At his best looks like he can be a dominant two way beast.

I don’t agree with this. Parekh does not have the profile of an all around defender with great size and two way ability but his defensive play is nowhere near as bad as you claim. He’s not gonna need to be sheltered or be limited as a PP specialist. Some of that can be coached out of him and he does have an active stick and can disrupt neutral zone plays pretty well.

He will generate offense in the NHL. The deception, passing, shot will translate, he’s scoring in NHL ways. And that will drive him well at ES or the PP.

Not every high pick needs to look like an Alex Pietrangelo, as much as we all love that profile. Anyway, this is the Dickinson thread and I believe he’s going top 5. Maybe even Anaheim or Columbus. I still have a hard time seeing Silayev go top 5 but scouts have had him there all year so they must know something

The only player who can go in Demidov's place at #2 overall. Lindstrom before injuries was an option too

2-10 will be hard to guess and I'm trusting Bob M on this one. However, in recent weeks, there has been a few late risers who seem to be creeping into the top 5 popularity mix. Dickinson is one of them.

All the noise I've seen from Chicago is Levshunov vs. Demidov and recently Silayev was brought in. But I did hear Davidson loves Dickinson.

It’s been said they like Dickinson but probably not enough to take him 2nd.

And they’ve “done their due diligence” on Silayev

But like you mentioned, more than likely between Levshunov and Demidov.

Davidson was quoted recently saying they’re excited to meet with Demidov in Florida later this month.

Haha. Are you saying that because you think the Hawks take him?

I have the Hawks taking Demidov. Bedard/Demidov put fans in the seats and provide an entertainment package (business side of things) while they focus on adding around them in the next 3+ years.

That’s who I think they’ll take too.

I was thinking you were hoping the hawks take Levshunov 2nd, and then Demidov slips. (Which is why Dickinson at 3 would be good for Montreal)

I don’t think Demidov gets past Columbus anyway.

I have the top 5 like this. My top 5 is exactly like McKeen's and I like their top 15 list as well. It's exactly how I see the talent in this draft. Only guys I would have rated higher are Buium and Eiserman.

Sharks (Celebrini): No explanation required

Hawks (Demidov): Like I said previously. Bedard/Demidov put fans in the seats while they focus on adding around them in the next few drafts.

Ducks (Dickinson): Ducks are good at drafting and they do like to stock pile their D. There are a lot of top 4D potential in this draft but not all of them will be top pairing like some fans think. I think Dickinson has top pairing potential.

Jackets (Lindstrom): They need help in a lot of areas and one of them is at center. After watching the smaller Gaudreau drown while having poor center depth, I think Lindstrom is their pick.

Habs (Iggy): I am not sure on this one as the others but Iggy is my pick at 5. He has top line potential and it's very difficult to nit pick his flaws. His game and focus is built for the NHL. One of the youngest and hottest trending. Should top out close to his father's size (6'-1" and 209 lbs). He's already at 6'-0" and 185 lbs at a young age of 17. Doesn't turn 18 until Aug and was 1.5 months away from being in the 2025 draft.
