You didn't see ****.
Just because you watched the 'Game in 6' doesn't mean anything what-so-ever. Your opinion of a player is determined by the stat sheet and highlights, which isn't an opinion of a player at all and just a gut reaction
Your "opinion" is meaningless
Ok here we go, I am watching the Game on demand right now.
Here are my game notes on Sandin.
First Period
Shift 1 - Sandin goes back for the puck on an icing. Sandin does not get the puck out. But harmless enough. No damage. i mins in.
2nd shift by Sandin. Rushed the puck out quickly after being pressured by the Checkers player, almost a giveaway.
3rd shift, Sandin and Lilegren having a little difficulty dealing with the Checkers fore check.
4th shift, Sandin and Lilegren give up a good chance to the Checkers player. Sandin overplayed the player on that rush to allow that chance at the 11 mins mark. Good save by Hutchinson.
Shift 5, Sandin nice quick pass to Bracco to Moore for a PP goal. Liked Sandin's puck movement there.
Shift 6, PP time. Not much Sandin on this shift.
Shift 7, PK tries to hit a Checkers player, bounces off. Nothing really to report on this shift either.
Shift 8, PP Sandin mishandles the puck at the blue line, coughs it up and the Checkers score a SHG. -1.
Period over.
2nd period begins.
Shift 1, Sandlin not in position, leaves the man uncovered in front of the net. Checkers score in the first 20 seconds. -2
Shift 2, PP A couple of stretch passes tried and missed. Sandin in a tough position stairing down a 2-1, could not break it up, Checkers score their 3rd goal, 2nd shorthanded. -3.
Shift 3, Sandin covers his man in front of the net, shot deflected into the stands off another Marlie. Sandin highsticks #25 of the Checkers, takes an unneccesary PIM.
Shift 4, comes out of the PIM box. Advances the puck.
Shift 5, Sandin tries to make a hit on a Checker at Center ice. 9 mins left in the period.
Shift 6, Sandin draws a PIM
Shift 7, PP time, Sandin makes a couples passes to Moore and Bracco. Carries the puck up the ice.
Shift 8, Sandin getting caught up ice, Natasiak with a dangerous chance.
Shift 9, 4 on 4 play. Sandin almost gives up the puck in front of the net on some tenacious forechecking by a Checker player.
2nd Period over.
Do my game notes match yours
@Orfieus thus far?
3rd Period.
Shift 1, Sandin playing like a rover trying to get some offence going.
Shift 2, Sandin outmuscled off the puck, recovers, passes to Lilegren who throws a grenade up the ice. Lucky on that play it didn't end up in the Net.
Shift 3, Made a good pinch to keep the puck in the Checkers zone.
Shift 4, More PP time, passes to Bracco who just misses..
Shift 5, PK, Sandin makes a giveaway in the neutral zone.
Shift 6, Makes a cross ice pass to get out of zone, very active D man, likes to roam.
Shift 7, Jumps into the attack, gets a shot on goal or deflected over the glass.
Shift 8, Goalie pulled, 6 attackers. close to 4 mins left. Tries a pass, intercepted.
Shift 9, Face off in Checkers zone. Nothing involving Sandin.
Shift 10, Checkers score into an empty net Sandin tries to block the shot, it ricochets and it's a -4 on the night.
@Orfieus
After 3 periods of watching the game, Sandin had a rough game. -4 after 60 mins. This doesn't mean he is going to be a bad player, infact I like his skating and passing, he reminds me of Jake Gardiner. But you said any opinion without watching the game was meaningless. I watched it. Did you watch the game? Since you called out my post. Do you think I portrayed the game accurately? To me it confirms exactly what I said and saw in the game in 6 package and now the entire game of watching 60 mins of the entire game.
My conclusion is, I think Sandin will be fine, he is only 19, he skates well and really all he needs is filling out and more AHL experience. He will need that strength to play in the NHL. One thing I noticed is he seems to hear footsteps when under pressure by the opposing forecheck. But this is not foreign for young players. He should get better at this.
Overall I would say he was by far the most noticeable Leafs D man this game and I believe he is the Leafs best Defence prospect. The other Leafs D men did not stand out to me, I barely noticed Lilegren or the others playing tonight.
