Night and day in terms of how Power has looked at Michigan vs the Championships.

Hes looking very good for Team Canada
Tbh I thought he would be better, for a guy who people have going no.1 overall. Looking back at other players playing in their D1 years, I’d say he’d rank quite low. Although I wouldn’t be surprised if he grew on me over the course of the tourney as he gets more use to the WC environment.

Yeah, I liked his game a lot today. Got better as the game went on. He's amazing in transition out of the dzone. He can skate it or pass it up the ice very effectively. His passing is outstanding. He made some sneaky good plays with the puck in his own zone.

If I was to nitpick, I'd say he could improve putting passes to more dangerous areas in the ozone. And play his defensive assignments a little harder in his own zone. But he's young and I'm sure he'll figure that out as he plays more pro hockey and gets stronger. All in all in a game where Canada wasn't particularly good, I thought he was excellent.

We'll get to see him play against Seider tomorrow! That should be fun :)

He was Canada's most impressive player today. He's not a sure thing, but I think a lot of the souring on his upside is unjustified. His size, skating, vision, and passing are all there. The team that drafts him just needs to be patient and give him another 1+ years to improve his shot and physicality.
I thought he was okay, but Stecher was our best D man.

Power and Perfetti are the youngest and both have shown they can handle themselves just fine with the NHLers. I can see Power as a top pick in the upcoming draft. Power seems to be getting more comfortable when he is out there. He is getting some very valuable TOI that is only going to make him better.

Oh don't get me wrong...I've been called a Power hater many times around here. And yes no question he's a tier or two below other past potential first overall picks

I mean, it has been 2 games against not exactly elite talent. It is impressive but it has been 2 games. People had the same reaction when Clarke had 2 amazing games.
I mean Clarke was playing against other u18 players on a far superior and dominant Canada team compared to the other teams and he was still pretty good for the rest of the tournament.

Power may not be playing against elite talent but he’s playing against fully grown men and NHL players some of them pretty good players too. Huge difference and he has been very good in both games so far. He’s been the favourite for a while but If he keeps this up I think he’s a lock to go #1.

Was anyone ever questioning if Power was physically ready to play against men?
Don't get me wrong, he has been impressive, but I think it is a little early to start the "I told you so".

He’s playing very well against NHL players and not just looking physically ready. He’s skating very well, making a lot of good plays and contributing to the offense.

I’m not saying “I told you so” I actually doubted him quite a bit earlier on and he’s won me over throughout his season with Michigan. If he plays the rest of the tournament like this I don’t think there’s any doubt he’ll go first overall.

I was referring to the other Ducks fan that thinks everyone's opinion on prospects is invalid unless you are a professional scout.

I actually felt that Power wasn’t that impressive, strength-wise. He got pushed around a little, especially in the beginning of the game. It was his decision-making, defensive tracking, and passing ability that really stood out in this game.

lol. Call me out by name then!

I never once said an opinion is invalid if you aren’t a professional scout. I love seeing other fan rankings. What don’t like is how people think their rankings are holy scripture and believe they know better than what the professionals think.

You can think Berniers is better, or Hughes, or Power. There are scouts who have the opportunity to see these guys everyday and can give excellent write-ups or opinions. Then on the flip side, you’ll have some random fan on here (or Reddit) who thinks that someone else deserves the top spot because Powers game isn’t flashy.

I would love a resource where I can watch games like a scout: legitimate streams to analyze everything. Looking at stats and twitter highlights don’t tell the full picture

From what I’ve heard a lot of scouts use a resource called InStat.
I’ve never tried but I think anyone can get it. It basically just clips all of a players shifts from a game or breaks it down in pretty much any way you want. If you just wanna watch power play you can hit on that and see all of the players power play shifts. You could even watch all of the players power play shifts from an entire season one after another in one video I believe or all of their shot attempts from an entire game or season. Pretty much whatever you could want, hits, turnovers, takeaways, battles, blocked shots, etc. It also shows a ton of stats and different things. I’ve never had it myself but someone showed me it once and it’s really cool.

I'm hoping that we get him in Detroit and can let him compete for a national championship in Michigan for one more season, and then we end up with Wright.

Berggren - Wright(Or Lambert) - Raymond
Power - Seider

I think Wings fans are drooling at the thought of that lineup.

InStat is nice, but extremely costly. I have the chance to have it thanks to an organization I work with, but I would never buy it if that wasn't the case. It's like 10k a year.

You get advanced stats and shifts by shifts of every game of every player from Midget to the NHL basically.
