He's not at all a thug like Pedan or Valabik. This kid can play the game, it is nice to see him drop the mitts though.
How a thug like Pedan can put up so many points in the OHL :) ? Or you mean defensive game only?

How far away is he from the NHL?

Depends. If a team needs a large shutdown presence right away, he could play next year or the year after. If a team has any sort of defensive depth, the smart thing would be to leave him in juniors and allow him to work on his offensive game, because he definitely has potential there. If he is developed properly, he could be a future #1D

I liked what I saw out of Zadorov when I saw London@Plymouth way back in November. For a 6'5 guy, his skating seemed pretty fluid. His reputation for the big hit was on display. I enjoyed one sequence where Zadorov lined up an opposing forward with his head down. I wouldn't even say Zadorov finished his check. Zadorov more or less just stood still and the forward ran into a proverbial brick wall. Later in the sequence, a Plymouth player tried to goad Zadorov into a fight. Zadorov remained calm and drew a penalty instead. As the refs were sorting things out, Zadorov slowly skated by Plymouth's bench and started chirping.

London had a sizable lead towards the end and Zadorov got some PP time. The most noticeable thing he did there was planting himself near the crease. He had a pretty heavy wrister, but it seemed to sail high on every attempt.

I don't like comparisons, because I hold the unusual belief there is only one unique player... But are there comparisons of similar qualities? I kind of like having a visual comparison to get an idea of what I'm looking at since I don't follow the CHL. This guy really intrigues me.

Zadarov has all the tools.

He's got a bomb from the point. In the little time he's had on the PP he's not afraid to use his one timer or the slapper. His wrister gets through 9 out of 10 times. He does get a little careless at times with the puck but he makes smart passes and does relatively well a moving the puck up the ice on his own. He may be one of the few in the OHL that can shoot the puck threw a goalie.

I'm not sure how much his offensive skills will be developed in London but they are certainly there.

Defensively he's got a tendency to be a little sluggish in his own end. He'll stand around instead of taking a man. Lately has been looking for the big hit a little to often. Big reach though and breaks up alot plays with it.

As for where he'll go in the draft he'll probably be a top 10 pick.

Based on what I've read this guy seems like a catch. What does Jones have that this kid doesn't?

He was one of London's worst ayer in an 8-1 loss in Windsor on Sunday. Poor skating (REALLY poor), piss poor decision making, and the direct result of 2 goals. His lack of mobility was consistantly exploited, and he looked awful.

pretty much everything. His skating, IQ, offensive game, are things that really jump out. The problem with both of them for me, is that I think they are more dominant then usual because both are so large compared to the rest of their peers, and seth jones is technically a year older then most draft eligible prospects this year, he missed the draft last year by something like two weeks.

The only comparables are their size and the fact that both are fairly good at skating (although Jones is faster). Jones has a much more refined offensive game and is more prone to finesse defense, although he is also capable of playing physically. Zadorov is much more physical generally

Have only seen bits and pieces of his game this year but I also really like him. To go along with his potential, I also think he's one of those guys that's closer to being NHL-ready than the vast majority of guys set to be picked in the 8-15 range.

physically he is ahead. and i have to say that his skating is impressive for his size. the quality of his passing is fine - but sometimes his decision making when it comes to the pass he makes is stupid - in fairness to him, that's probably a function of age - as i said, he's a high quality player.

We have him ranked 12th.
The London Knights made a trade with Peterborough to move up to the number 9 pick in last year’s CHL import draft and take hulking defenceman Nikita Zadorov out of Russia. Its turned out to be an inspired move by the Knights as Zadorov has developed into a solid contributor on the London blueline and was a big part of the Knights finishing with the OHL’s best record this season.

Haven't been overly impressed with him at the Memorial Cup. Still think he's a solid pick in the 10-15 range, but was hoping to see more things from him at this event.

He definitely got hurt in the Plymouth series earlier this year and he may be tired. People who watch him more than I have can probably expand on it more, but he took a check from a forechecker in one of the first two games and hasn't looked the same since

I was feeling that way until tonight Renegade Stylings. I will admit I have seen a very limited sample size of Zadorov but tonight I was feeling it. Thought he made some very good decisions about when to apply force and didn't take himself out of the play while he laid a few guys out with some big hits. Also I thought we got to see his impressive skating skills and puck moving ability especially late when London was chasing the game and opening up.

up until tonight I was hoping he would be gone before Winnipeg picked at 13......after tonight's game I would welcome Nik to the Jet family as a prospect.

I had him borderline out of my 1st before this tourney and he only solidified my thoughts. Long season and all that other stuff but I just can't convince myself to think this is a player. He's given me some serious Alex Plante flashbacks.

If him or Anthony Mantha were at the top of my list when it came time to pick around 25-30 I'd still be looking for excuses not to take them.
