Looks like a promising guy. Let's hope his development goes better than Andrei Pedan's- it seems like the only thing he learned is how to goon around and fight, he was the worst defender on Russian team at the Super Series.

I've seen a bit of Zadorov before, and 2 fights in 2 games- that's should not be him. Was hoping he would go in the same direction as Ilya Nikulin, more technical and offensive oriented with size.

Someone's already prepared to say "I told ya so, the OHL ruined him."

Give it a few games, Boris.

This big boy is just the type of d-man I like. And at times, he is showing some offense as well. Will be interesting to see his development before the draft!

Yeah Pedan's development has gone terribly wrong, he's only gotten better year after year (wait, isn't that how development is supposed to happen ?).

Havn't seen him in Guelph but he's been absolutely awful everytime I've seen him play for Russia.

Russia scouts CHLers very poorly and are usually stubborn in their treatment towards them.

Pedan isn't perfect, but Russia might need him. He doesn't suck, but Alexei Vasilevski does. And with Naumenkov's injury there's little flexibility.

Plenty of candidates to choose from over Pedan.

Recent examples? Because under Bragin and now Varnakov, CHLers have been treated very well.

Pedan been given every opportunity:
*2012 Canada/Russia challenge
*2012 U-19 in St. Petersburg
*2012 WJC camp
*2011 Subway Super Series

...he's just been a defensive train wreck every time.

The jury is out on Varnakov for now. We'll see if he cuts Zlobin. His attitude towards Kucherov has not impressed me.

So if Varnakov cuts Zlobin it means he's anti-CHL?:whatever:
Let's not forget Varnakov had no problem naming Sergeev (a CHLer) assistant captain for the Canada/Russia series.

And his comments about Kucherov were puzzling, but at least Kucherov is in training camp. But what about a great players like Kadeikin? He was never given a chance at all. Does not inviting Kadeikin mean Varnakov is anti-MHL too?

Sergeyev hasn't been in the line up for a while, Zaddy out of todays line up, hopefully that doesn't mean that they are injured. IF so the D are dropping like flies, might spell trouble...

Him and Maatta were scratched so that they could fly back to Europe to attend their WJ camps

Zadorov is possibly my favourite player from this draft.

I do agree with some scouts in that it looks like there's not a whole ton of offensive upside in him, but he's just soooooo good defensively. Smart and the level of agility he shows for a big man is really surprising.

He's not at all a thug like Pedan or Valabik. This kid can play the game, it is nice to see him drop the mitts though.

How far away is he from the NHL?

I honestly think the chances are very high on him being a darkhorse for playing straight out of the draft. Might be smarter for the team that drafts him to send him back to junior though. I think sending him back will help develop the offesnive game he's missing. Defensively I think he'll be ready for the NHL.

I've been trying to read up on some of the top 15 prospects in this draft & I have a few questions about Zadorov.

1) Where do you think he will be picked and would him being picked in the 8-10 range be a reach?

2)Where does he rank compared to the other D in this draft

3) What is his ceiling/floor (Not counting not making the NHL as his floor) & what is his ETA to the NHL?

4) What is a good NHL comparable? From what I've read would Alzner or Cowen be a good comp?
