He plays majority of his minutes on the first pairing, but as the game goes along, Bednar and Pratt switch him from top pairing to bottom and back again. They're getting his feet wet instead of him being thrown into the wolves.

For the most part, I will say is that he's a work in progress since he still makes mistakes, but man has he developed compared to last year. As others have said, he was easily the best defender against the Lightning and has been putting up some points while strictly focusing on defensive-first properties. In terms of offense, already matched his last years numbers in around 17 to 18 games less. Though, he still has certain mistakes, but I think they're more reactionary than mental issues. In this case, puck watching instead of focusing on getting into a better position (which the coaches have been working with him on a lot). One area he has improved tremendously has been his defensive stick, he has all the physical tools, but now has the defensive stick to contribute them. When he goes into corners now, he isn't just looking for the hit, he's angling them off with his body size and pokechecking the puck away leaving the forward helpless.

Haven't seen it talked about outside of Avs fans and I guess having just 2 assists has a lot to do with that but this mutant has been Colorado's best defenseman so far this year and he's been playing on the top pair.

Peacock has looked great, even with his hesitation while pinching and very cautious play with the puck. If he continues to get more comfortable and starts to unleash his creative side; I won't be surprised to see him finish the season as the Avs top dman.

he's been playing on the top pair.
He's not getting much playing time for a first pairing guy.

First game of the season he sat pretty much the entire 3rd as well as other important situations because the coach didn't trust him yet. Then a later game against Florida he was benched In the 3rd for some mistakes. The team only played 8 games this season so when you take away heavy mintues in two of those 8 games it makes a major impact on those average numbers.

Zadorov has faced tougher competition than every other defenseman other than EJ who is his partner. They're the top pairing every night, they play the toughest competition and they play the most SH minutes (along with Beauchemin since they sort of work as a 3 man penalty killing defense). Those two are also the ones driving the play if you're into advanced stats. They're both 1st and 2nd on the team defense in corsi for per60 and corsi against per 60.. Relative to their teammates their stats are insane especially when you consider their competition.

Glad that he's doing well. If he can achieve and maintain mental consistency, he's a top-pairing player for a long time.

With Zadorov, Provorov and Sergachev it seems like Russia is starting to produce quality defensemen lately.

Oh come on. The guy is a MASSIVE BUST. Get rid of him while you still can.

We offer our 1st this year.
