hopefully wherever Reilly signs, he can play with a solid stay at home type dman so he can still do his offensive thing... Schultz was just thrown into the mix on a horrendous defensive team and its been a disaster. They allowed him to run hog wild and play top pairing minutes when he had no business doing so. I would assume Reilly will look at what happened with Schultz and take that into consideration when making his decision

Still no shortlist announced? Last week he had said within 3 or 4 days they will announce their shortlist... im eager to see what teams!

It more than likely has to do with Chicago being too preoccupied with the Finals to deal with Reilly.

Edmonton or Chicago would be good landing spots for him. Leaning towards the Oilers (homer) since he'd be basically guaranteed a roster spot or be the 1st call up and be able to grow with McDavid and friends.

He'd be guaranteed a roster spot on Chicago's D as well. He'd actually be playing with a competent defense too.

every team is promising him a roster spot that wants him... Id kinda like to see him in Buffalo weirdly enough

Can an ELC be a one way deal? I don't think so. Other than that how can he be guaranteed a spot? After he costs a team a game or two with his play I have to believe he is AHL bound. I want him to sign with the Jackets but not at the cost of having to keep him in Columbus all season if his play doesn't warrant it.

Not officially...they would just give them their word. It's easy to hide or protect someone at the NHL level. The problem is, if it gets to that, it probably stunts his development, as opposed to playing fulltime minutes in the AHL.

I don't see how any team could be better for him than the Blackhawks. You join a team that competes for the Cup every year, there's open spots on the defense to make the team right away, and you get to learn from some of the best in guys like Niklas Hjalmarsson, Brent Seabrook and Duncan Keith.

If the Hawks sign Rielly and my name is Stephen Johns then I'm severely pissed off that I didn't take advantage of this loophole last summer when I had the chance

I know Johns broke his arm in the AHL playoffs but he was also dominating before getting injured. Just seems like a slap in the face to me for them to promise Rielly something just to sign him when they have very attractable young D-men in their system that deserve looks themselves

Johns is slated for the Hawks next year. Big, physical dman who I'm sure the Hawks hope ends up replacing Seabrook.

Johns, Pokka, TVR, palliotta are all RH, our best LF are Eric Gusstason (UDFA) and Svedberg (UDFA) For next year we have Keith (LF) Seabrook (RH) and Hammer LF but plays both sides equal well. They are going to need 1 or 2 LH on ECL or League min. If reilly signs My guess is Johns, TVR, reilly make the Big club out of camp. With Paliotta, Svedberg Gussatafson or a League min being the last guy.

I'm not sure Q would "cotton to" 3 rookie d-men in the starting lineup (even though TvR was a starter last season before his kneecap was broken - so more like 2.5 rookies I guess). But with Oduya most likely not back, the Hawks will need (2) LDs and Johns, TvR and most other d-prospects are RDs. Reilly is LD and would fit very nicely as the 3rd pair LD.

If i was them, have all pairings be rookie and vet. Then at the deadline, bring in a vet or two.
