He's been pretty disappointing this year compared to last year IMO. He hasn't played with nearly the same amount of urgency, especially in the defensive zone. Not a very good first 2 periods for Hughes.
The kid has a ton of talent, even more than Quinn does, but his decision making is nowhere close to QH’s.
Just a lot of baffling decisions right now.
Imagine Kevin Bahl has something to say about that.Severson will be gone next year and Luke should go to the left side. Our right side will be Hamilton, Marino and Nemec. Left side Siegenthaler, Graves (if he re-signs) and Luke…an absolutely ridiculous back end.
TJ Hughes, no relation.I saw yesterday that Michigan has another guy named Hughes on the roster. Is he a cousin or something?
That entire Michigan team played super sluggish until overtime. With the amount of talent they have, they should have wiped the floor against Penn State. They played like they were entitled to go to the frozen four with how many lazy plays they made. There were an endless amount of flyby's, blown coverages, and players too lazy to stop and start.
Quinnipiac looked very comfortable playing a Trap, there were lots of points where Michigan kept trying to skate right at them. For a team that had a week to prepare, they didn't look very prepared.Even the broadcasters were saying somebody needs to calm him down. You can’t skate through the stingiest team in the NCAA.

Completely agree. Even in the WJC I feel like he played with the world on his shoulders. He’s a great player. But, there were some nights he didn’t play with enough respect for his opponent’s talent. I think it took him a while to fully recover from his injury, but he was trying to do too much many nights.Overall, I would say it was a disappointing sophomore year for Hughes.
Other than perhaps the games against Minnesota, Hughes was better than any player he went up against. And many nights he tried to be the guy who played junior/college playing against the plumbers in the local pickup game, he tried to be to fancy and to risky and made many big blunders. Last season when he played a much more simple game he was way more effective. I don't know if it was because of all the players we lost to the NHL made him feel like he had to do it all himself, but he was not nearly as good this year.
The talent is still elite, but he needs to simplify things when he gets to Jersey.

They hate us cuz they ain’t usPeople need to get there last dunk on Hughes before he leaves the draft board.
Jealousy is a terrible thing.
