How Luke Hughes can push his already great offence to the next level - EP Rinkside
He also wrote a pretty positive review on Huges (paywall though). He's more of a Q scout, but not only that. I think he focuses a bit more on habs prospects, but he's writing stuff on most top 60ish draft prospects/top prospects from every NHL teams. You can also check out EP rinkside youtube account. They post some 8-10 minutes long video analysing some players, focusing on one or two aspect of their games. It's good content in case you want to get a small read on one particular player. Often times he's the one doing those videos (you can hear his shitty english accent, .
I think based on your description I've seen his draft videos. I'll stick to watching Hughes myself.

His brother Quinn made some very questionable decisions at Michigan too.

I don't think Luke has great IQ, but he may not need it to be a #1 defenseman.

Elite skating can mask a lot of deficiencies up top.

For a freshman who doesn't turn 19 till next September? Yeah, put me down as not concerned.
No one was telling you to be concerned. The guy posted a tweet about objective stats and a half-dozen Devils fans immediately jumped him with personal attacks, you among them:
I love it when people get triggered by a little pushback.

Actually, yeah he did. Which is not a big deal, I just responded back with proper perspective, I rarely if ever worry about an 18-year olds defensive play, especially when I know it's a kid who works hard on his game.

And no one jumped no one, ease off a bit with the hyperbole comments, the OP of that vague and zero context tweet about Hughes defense is the one who got pissy. It really seemed like he was a bit angry about Hughes getting big kudos and wanted to knock him down a peg with something, anything, hence that tweet that went into no details. That's why I pushed back on him because his motive was pretty transparent.

I mean bring some meat to the table, leave the tossed salads in the fridge.

Why wouldn’t you expect pushback from a fan base when you post a tweet from someone we’ve never heard of? There’s no reason for a Devils fan to know who Davis St. Louis is.

It’s David, not Davis, and he’s reasonably well known among those who follow NHL prospects. He does a lot of writing/videos/analysis for Elite Prospects, his video scouting reports for Elite Prospects are some of my favourites. He’s a pretty reasonable person to quote on the prospects board.

The person who introduced him into this thread called him "Davis". That's who you should be correcting.

As a UM season ticket-holder, if you ask me the analytical evaluations are fair but are also not anything to worry about at all. There are still some holes that IMO need one more year at this level to get patched up but that is true of just about every 18 year old d-man. The jump from the USHL to the NCAA is massive, especially for defenseman.

The goal-scoring is for sure a bit inflated and will probably even out, but the overall offense isn't. Just like with Quinn, he has a great ability to get shots through to the goal, and while there has been good fortune so many have found the back of the net directly, they could easily have been tipped in or generated a rebound leading to an assist for Luke.

The draft cut-off being what it is draws people to compare him to his fellow 2021 draft picks but the reality is he is almost a full year younger than those guys, and should use them (as well as his brother) returning and getting better as a prime reason why he should do the same.

If the Devils and Hughes both feel like he plays in the NHL next season he should go, if there is any doubt by either party he should return. Dominating the NCAA is a much better development path for teenagers than riding busses in the AHL.

I think the plan for him is the Quinn path I.E. two years at michigan, late season call up for a taste of the nhl and then the third year on the big club at least that’s the indication front Fitzgerald. I much rather him spend year two at UM sliding into powers slot and playing big minutes to work on his defensive game. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a dip in production next year because he’s going to be saddled with much tougher assignments (hopefully) he may make up the difference on the elevated pp time tho

So is Luke on the same level as Quinn? he's already got 14 goals

EDIT: Now 15 goals

15 goals and 16 assists in 31 games now .
Not too shabby from a kid that is 6 days from being a 2022 draft prospect.
PPG and on a hot streak while some of the big guns on Michigan gone for the Olympics…..
No concerns here lol.
