I had to double check that this was the same kid they just drafted last year. I hadn't followed him in the WHL, I came away very impressed after last night.

This guy is not ready for the NHL but he can't be developed properly on the brutal AHL squad.

Is it legal to loan a player to another AHL team for a pick while still retaining his rights? Say Korchinski and a 5th to Sabres with the condition he only plays for the Amerks the rest of this season for future considerations.

Perils of bottoming out.

That’s a bit dramatic. Hogs have Cole Guttman, Andreas Athanasiou, Joey Anderson, Zach Sanford, Brett Seney, Gerry Mayhew up front as of now. It’s not a complete wasteland.

Right Ahl vets who have put up offense in the past are not doing it this year. So it’s a pretty dumb idea to say loan him to another Ahl team.
No idea on loaning him to another team as that's not something I would do with a prospect of mine.

He can still develop with the players there, my comment was that the group of forwards there just aren't that great.

No real argument, but I think you and others are overselling it. A team like Manitoba is a "wasteland". Rockford is just mediocre and has some underperformers from their AHL vets.

Anderson: 29 points in 27 AHL games with Rockford over various small parts of last three seasons
Guttman: 80 points in 81 games with Rockford over last two seasons
Athanasiou: 492 NHL games, 7 points in 8 AHL games with Rockford this season

The next three have been disappointing this year..

Sanford: 334 NHL games
Seney: had 117 points in 127 AHL games with Rockford the previous two seasons
Mayhew: Les Cunningham Award Winner (AHL MVP) back in 2020
