By all accounts he is excelling. Methinks he will not be viewed as a reach for long.

Check out how calmly he escapes pressure and makes a beautiful soft area pass to spring the breakaway:

He wasn’t even a reach by draft day. People just let year-long (or more in the case of guys like Brad Lambert who are hyped for years) narratives dominate their perception instead of focusing on growth and development ramping up with certain prospects they maybe weren’t as familiar with early in the season.

I don’t think there was any question KK was a locked on top 10 pick with big upside on draft day. He’s going to be awesome with the way the game is headed!

Reminds me a fair bit of Tomas Kaberle, stylistically. Similar skating, similar puck handling style, both puck moving playmakers with great vision, neither took/take many slappers, similar size/build/athleticism, both very poised with the puck, both pretty soft, both questionable on D. Kevin takes more risks and makes more mistakes, but he’s young.

Not saying he’ll be as good as Kaberle, but similar style, and maybe he could be that good if everything goes right in his development.

Off to a hot start - 12 points in 6 games. Anybody been watching?
He's dominating on the ice. He is going to put up a massive number of points this season. IMO him and Zellweger will end the season as the 2 leading dmen scorers in the WHL(unsure yet who will be 1 and 2)

Right now Korchinski is tied for the Dmen league lead with 12 and the guy he is tied with has played double the amount of games(Korchinski 6gp and Zloty 12gp)

Seattle is such a talented team this season. Won't be surprised if many of them become top scorers this season.

The last draft was rich in defencmen...Mintyukov, Korchinski, Pickering, Casey, Hutson, Nelson..all impressive to start the year.

I'd love to get to watch a game or two now that Nolan Allan (Hawks 2021 1st rounder) has been traded to Seattle. Since they're both LD's maybe they don't play together regularly but Allan has played some RD in the past - so maybe they do play together to give us a look at a potential Hawks d-pairing of the future.

La Forge apparently has been trying to get Allan for over a year and mentioned something along the lines of they might as well get them playing together because they “could be playing together for the next 15 years”. If I remember correctly they played on a pair together in training camp.

They seem to be a good pairing - KK leans offense and NA leans defense - both skate very well and have decent size. I hope they play together the rest of the season and both stick around and play together in Seattle next season too. Maybe play together in Rockford for the 2024/25 season and then break in with the Hawks in 2025/26 when the rebuild will be entering the 4th year and should be ready to show some results.

I’m thinking Kevin is up with the hawks next year.
Nolan is Rockford bound.

In my opinion KK won't be NHL ready by next year... I strongly feel he will be back in junior again... He will play out his 19 year old season in Seattle I would imagine

I'm a huge fan of him and would love to see him in the NHL next season but also I'm realistic and I still think there are things he can work on before making the jump to the NHL
