He leads his team (Kometa) in points by D and for TOI for D.
Well it would be kind of shocking if the guy who is about to turn 24 and play in the NHL (or at least hopes to) wouldn't lead his Extraliga team in TOI. Yet he isn't really doing anything that would make him stand out league-wide.

He isn't even close in performance to Hronek, an actual NHL player, who is a year younger. I think the gap between Zboril and Hronek is pretty much as wide as the gap between Zboril and guys who could possibly contend for Calder.

I think hes gonna be a rookie of the year candidate. Jakub will surprise many this year.
I think he has close to zero chance of being a rookie of the year candidate.

As a 22/23 year old in the AHL his NHLe was 13 pts in an 82 game season.

There will be 10+ rookie Dmen who exceed that. Last year there were about 20 rookie D who were on pace for that in an 82 game season.

Plus there are Fs, including the #1 overall pick. I mean, there's being a fan of your team and then being overly optimistic based on absolutely nothing but hope.

Hronek is definitely better. Is someone arguing that? I didn't say he'd win the calder, save that for whoever did.

You said he wasn't doing well in the Czech league.. I'd say leading his team in points and minutes is doing well. Libor Hajek also hopes to be in the NHL next season and he's on his team with less minutes and points.

What I said was "he isn't even all that impressive" while talking to the person predicting "hes gonna be a rookie of the year candidate".

I never said he isn't doing well either. And yet you have the audacity to give me attitude after completely misreading my point and creating this ginormous strawman yourself.

Get a grip.

I'm going to repeat... I did not say he will be a rookie of the year candidate. You're arguing with the wrong person.

13.42 TOI, 3 career NHL games played ?

That was his debut game.. 19 plus, 1:02 on PP and 1:20 on PK.

Thats a great debut.

After 2 periods today he's already at 13 minutes and third in TOI amongst the D today.

He's playing top 4 minutes in all situations so far. That's awesome!

Using 2 games from a different season where he played bottom pair in spot duty would definitely lower a TOI average.

That was his season opener.
You can not make a debut, twice.

Anyhow, still congrats.

You were quoting that his TOI was 13 minutes.

His 'debut' was 2 years ago in November of 2018.. he played 2 games at 10 minutes each.
Using stats from 2 years ago seems a bit misleading to me. Maybe focus on his stats this season?

FTR... it was his debut for this season. Just like Chara just had a debut for Washington this week. No one said that was his first ever NHL game but it definitely was his debut for this season. For instance, I'm still waiting for Pastrnak to make his debut this year. It's semantics on a hockey board. Your use of TOI is concerning to show he is not good is concerning. Combing 3 games - 2 from 2018 and 1 from 2021 to show how he is deployed is a unique way to look at things.

I think this is an unique way to look at things as well.

I quote, someone responds, I respond again and here we are.

Chara made his debut for Washington yes, Zboril did not.
