I hope he goes back........for the selfish reason of watching him light up the WHL with Patrick lol.

Sorry but after watching him play against men I am amazed by his game. It is the little things he does that stand out for me. So cool and calm when pressed. I would love to see him play with Patrick again but only in Orange and Black:sarcasm:. Rooting for the Wheaties.

Del Zotto is out 4-5 weeks so I think that means Provorov will be up for at least that period of time to show what he's got.

They were trusting him with way to much time in preseason games to send him back I would think. Like the last game which was 99% starters, he was on the top pk, 2nd PP, and had the 2nd most icetime to Ghost who played 22:13 (5 mins of that was PP). He also played the most ES minutes on the team, with it going even higher when MDZ left.

One has to think that it is a lock at this point. He really has to struggle the next 9 games.

The likelyhood of Provorov beimg sent back to junior is about the same as the likelyhood of me making the Flyers this year.

I watched Ivan under a magnifying glass tonight against the Bruins. I only saw periods 2 and 3 because unfortunately NHLN joined the game after the first period ended. I honestly am in disbelief. I don't know how a 19 year old kid can look like the smartest, most consistent, and efficient defenseman on the ice sheet. His game was near flawless. Every pass is perfect. Every stride is calculated. Every rush out of the D zone ends up in a zone entry. Every opposing forward gets pressured from the perfect angle. When he's on the ice, any loose puck in the D zone that he has a chance to get is gobbled up, protected, and given to the most appropriate forward or zone of open ice in a matter of a few seconds. He did have one bad moment in the third period where Pastrnak stripped him of the puck from behind as he skated it out of the D zone. I don't expect Ivan to let this happen ever again.. that's the kind of student and player he is.
I also believe that he has an offensive side that he hasn't quite shown us yet. It seems like he's been trying to take zero risks because he wants to make the team so badly. I bet once the season gets going he'll begin to make more things happen offensively.. unless he wants to spend his first season really solidifying the defensive portion of his game, which I can see him doing.

^^^ Provy plays a very efficient, simple game. For sure he is holding back on offense and focusing in defense. He knows good defense is what the team needs. And with MDZ hurt, it will be even more of an issue.

I think you will see around January his offense start to grow more. But regardless, his passing and zone exits will help Philly in transition and had should get #2 PP time. He is already a top 4 Dman in Philly.

And in games that the Flyers are trailing in the 3rd period, I would expect him to create more to push the offense.

I like that he made that mistake...as you said...he will learn from it. No D is perfect so no reason to expect that from Provy.

Other than that awful turnover he played near flawless hockey. His hockey IQ is at a level that is special for a teenage dman.

I went back and watched that turnover in slow-mo. Ivan actually made the skate save on the shot that came from the turnover. It's like whenever he actually does make a mistake he makes up for it.

What does Medvedev have anything to do with Provorov, other than them being Russian and playing for the Flyers?

I didn't compare them, but only said that EVEN Medvedev was not bad in preseason (he surely isn't NHL level player, but Provorov is). I really hope that Provorov will be top player, but this season should be very difficult for him.

Studliest of studs. So jealous.. I'd give my right nut for either of the emerging Russian superstar dmen (Provorov or Sergachev).
