Keep thinking that if it makes you feel better.

I'd rather have Barzal, and I'd would of taken Connor over any of them, but all 3 guys Boston took appear to very solid prospects who while none may ever be superstars, all 3 project as solid quality NHLers. Debrusk may even see a cup of coffee this year depending on how the injury bug goes.

I wonder if Reinhart will clear waivers now in a week or so?

When Boston obtained their 3 back to back to back picks for the 2015 draft. I thought they would be the winners of the 2015 draft. Perhaps other than getting Mcdavid or Eichel. If given the choice, I would have kept all 3 picks even if another team wanted to trade any of 3-5 for them. I would have taken Barzal, Connor, and Konecny with those picks. If you asked me if any 1 team was leaving the draft with all 3 of these players in the cupboard, I would say this would have been a organizational changing draft that would have had a positive effect for a decade to come.

Which kind of lessens the debacle of the Reinhart deal when you think of it. Both could be termed as mistakes.

Reinhart is still in the line up got 3 pts in 4 games when he could be send to the AHL and he is for sure the worst dmen in the league for hf borders ... you're all wrong this guy will be a good 3-4 dmen with 25-30 pts per season mark my words and slow down with the bashing he is not that bad ...

He will never be a 3-4 D-man. Maybe, if can work on his skating, he might make a bottom pairing D-man in the NHL. That's a big IF.

It's funny that Barzal and Beauvillier have broken camp with the Islanders while Reinhart is in the AHL.

I've never understood this POV.

He played 18 minutes a night and looked half decent in his call up last season. If he improves his skating and puck-handling, it isn't out of the question that he can't hit close to his potential. You look at the progress of a guy like Willie Mitchell, who I would consider an optimistic comparable. He didn't really break in until his mid-to-late-20s.

good to hear. perhaps he can still become an nhl player.

Great!! I'm rooting for him to become a player. I was really high on him. I didn't think his lack of foot speed was going to affect him as much as it did.

Thanks for the kind words on Griff.

Yeah foot speed is still an issue, but he's starting to settle into his own in the AHL and play some good hockey. He's a smart enough kid that I think he can one day be a decent #5 and guy that kills penalties.

He might not be an NHLer until he's 25/26ish which isn't that unusual for D men.

It can happen with defenseman, it's a slow road. Look how long it finally took Ryan Ellis to put it together.

I don't think any Islander fans were rooting for Griff's demise. We are happy with the trade. He never blew us away, but still hoping the kid can make it. He's got the pedigree and he's a big boy so would fun to see him throwing his weight around eventually in the NHL.

D men can take much longer to develop, it's certainly not an uncommon thing.

Generally speaking, Chia has done an outstanding job as GM in my view. This was one move that as of now wasn't a great one obviously (the other moves more than off-set this one).

Griffin is a big kid, and he's a smart player. If he gets a bit more of a mean streak and works on his skating over the next couple years, he's got a shot at being a decent bottom pairing guy that can kill penalties.

Definitely way too early to completely write him off yet, he's developing right now decently in the AHL.

"He's played very well," said Chiarelli. "I had a good meeting with him when I was down there. He's very assertive, he's moving the puck, he's putting up points, he's joining the rush and he's made a lot of strides."
[...]
"At the end of training camp, we talked to him," said Chiarelli. "I thought he had a disappointing training camp. We told him and said, 'You've got to go down and focus on your game.'"

An emphasis on adding more confidence and impact every time he were to take the ice was imperative. Being more assertive, making sound plays, being a catalyst for his team both defensively and offensively were discussed.

"We mentioned some of the things I just mentioned and he's done it, and he's been terrific at it," said Chiarelli.
