I was watching old highlights from the 2016 WJC and remembered that Chad Krys made that years American team as a 2-year underage player. He could have played in both last years and this years WJC tournaments. Usually when a player makes the team an a 17/18 year old they're a lock to make the team in the future if they are available. Krys has to be the only player I've ever seen who played as a 17/18 year old and then did not make the team again the next two years.

Are there any reasons for this? Has he just fallen out of favour? I noticed that he had a mediocre year last year but this year he's having a pretty good season so I'm confused a bit as to why the Americans wouldn't;t choose a "returning" player.

Like many, he stopped progressing.

I haven't watched him in the last two years so I can't tell but his college numbers are a lot better this year than last, so I doubt he has stopped progressing, although his progression did seem to slow a lot after his 1st year with the USNTDP.

My guess would more be that he's smallish, LHD and doesn't have one standout quality in his game.

He's tied for 2nd on BU in scoring as a 19 year old, 18 points in 19 games after 11 in 39 last season. He's doing just fine.

It’s not close, either. Hughes is good, but it’s meaningful (and not in a positive light) that he’s in their top-four. Lindgren and Fox are meh. Very good for this tournament, definitely going to reach the NHL, but they’re not going to be making any significant waves there. Rest of their D corps are no-name dime-a-dozen types. Luckily for them, the Americans probably have the best coaching staff in the tournament and always seem to get the most out of their players.

A lesson to learn from people tuning in this thread.

WORLD JUNIORS HOCKEY TOURNAMENTS Don't MEAN CRAP!

We do not need another Godson to appear out of the blue promising to turn water into wine but instead turning it into utter crap.

6gp 4pts since signing his ELC and joining Rockford.

For those that have seen him play, how has he looked?
he has made a few highlight reel plays and seems to be adjusting to the pro game pretty quickly. you can see the confidence and ability he displays out there, he isn't afraid to make a tough pinch and push the needle to create some offense. he has been one of the least talked about Blackhawks defensive prospects the past few years, but his game overall has only improved each and every year to the point where I think he challenges for a spot at some point next year. this obviously is as of right now, no clue if the Hawks add a UFA dman/trade, but he has seriously impressed most since he signed.

Thats awesome to hear.. Honestly it kinda seems like he is the forgotten guy with the more talked about dmen prospects like Jokiharju, Boquist, Beaudin and Mitchell doing their things.
