Cleveland was an overdraft because he’s big and can skate and isn’t a zero with the puck, but he’s not good at hockey.

The same was true of Alex Vlasic and he eventually figured it out. Too early to give up on Cleveland, but it was a wish and hope pick. If the Wings thought it was anything more, bad scouting.

Vlasic could actually defend pretty well at the NTDP and was ranked anywhere from 25-60 in 2019. Cleveland is just big & hits, was ranked from 60-150 in 2023. Big difference.

Pavel was a big and consistent "Vlasic sucks" guy, and rather admit that he was incorrect in his read, doubles back to Vlasic making a miracle recovery.
