Would Emelin be a good comparable?

Emelin's more skilled, so maybe a more defensively skewed Emelin if you need a russian to russian comp. But I see Emelin as a #4 when his head isn't up his ass; while Mironov is more of a good #5 who can step into the top 4 when needed, but shouldn't be there when everyone's healthy. Which is why I like the Gudas comparison better.

I was hoping to watch him in competitive games at the WCs, but he was the odd man out in the games that mattered.

So is he a player that gets a high number of hits, like an Emelin? Or a player that just connects with the occasional big hit? Does the KHL track hit stats?

Was at training camp and the inter squad scrimmage yesterday, and Mironov stood out purely based on his build. The dude is built like a brick ****house. I'm really hoping we'll see him lay out some of his patented hip checks in the NHL this year. Any offense he can provide is a bonus on top of his physicality.

Good news: debuted in the NHL.
Bad news: was pretty bad in his debut game.

Agreed, I think there is an NHL defender in there somewhere but it's been slow to show. We have a logjam of third pairing guys and it is hard for any of them to get much consistency which doesn't help when somebody is transitioning to a new league and culture. Girard's excellence made the logjam even worse especially as Lindholm and Nemeth return. I'd start by tossing Barberio out but that doesn't seem like it is going to happen. So we have Nemeth, Barberio, Bigras, Mironov and Lindholm ... 5 guys...for 2 open spots.

It's a shame Mironov was promised an NHL gig cause he really would've benefitted from some time in the AHL to get used to the smaller ice, learn some english, and adjust to NA culture at a level where he wasn't a liability while still adapting.

The wild game was easily his best so far for the Avs and that hit on Coyle was very well timed, but I'd still feel much better about Bigras staying in the lineup next to Barrie or Barberio while Andrei adjusted down in San Antonio.

Apparently Mironov had enough of the AHL, also wasn't a fan of being called-up, but not iced.
