I looked back 6 years and his worst for draws was 47.3%. where he took over a thousand draws. The percentage goes up when he takes more strong side with his two best years of 52% and 54% being 600 draws. I don't think he will be the D zone FO guy but most of his starts aren't OZ so thats at least some relief for Tavares.. He does PK. Has only been on a couple of strong Philly clubs and a whole bunch of bad ones with his shining moment being in 19-20 when the Flyers went 16 games deep and he led them in goals with 5.Think the Flyers have played him mostly at wing lately, although he has plenty of games under his belt at center. Just doesn't have much of a finishing touch. Was hoping for a guy you could maybe groom to take over second line duties at some point, but that may have been a bit of a rosy expectation.
As others have pointed out his advanced stats for last season were abysmal but shot based metrics do perk up with a stronger lineup and better line mates. His 8.5 hits per 60 are more than any regular minute Leaf forward. The question is, was the toilet year last season who he is, or just a bad season? After all, he was 29, not 33. He is a question mark for me, but he keeps Kampf out of the top 9 and Domi on the wing so that is a big positive. I am really looking forward to seeing what he can do with the Leafs wingers replacing the popgun Philly squad.
The future second line center would have cost Knies + so choose your poison.
