Speculation: Larkin trade return

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
Hopefully Yzerman gets us a Goff/Gibb, Williams and LaPorta deal.
For Yzerman, it kinda needs to be. He deserves to be fired at this point. And I am someone who adores Yzerman.

We need Larkin to approve Anaheim, San Jose and Utah on his trade list and then get them all in a bidding war. Those are three teams that have probably the best collection of young assets to help another rebuild. Plus it sends him out west.

Can we all be honest with the situation for a second?

The team SY inherited in 2019 wasn’t in need of a rebuild. It was in need of a build. There was nothing. No foundation, awful contracts, no chip prospects, and not even many draft picks.

While the situation we’re in now feels like a rebuild would be reverting back to those days, that’s far from reality. This current organization has many young, talented players and prospects - a foundation which would catapult a successful rebuild out of the middling fringe playoff team I see as our current ceiling.

If I’m SY, I’m having a meeting with Seider & Rayzer. Here’s what we’re going to do. It may take us a couple years of struggle, but we’re going to make a serious attempt at truly building a dynasty.

Larks, Cat, Gibson, Ras, Copp, whoever.. all dealt for young prospects and picks. Sign the best UFAs we can get this summer to short-term, top dollar contracts and sell for even more assets at the TDL. That’s the only path I see to eventually being a perennial cup contender, given what we currently have.

Rebuilds work when you have something to build on. We now have that.

I'm good with this, but it needs to be done by a different GM. Preferably one that has zero previous ties to the organization.

Judging from normal Yzerman trades and the degree of staff focus in the offseason towards building the team I’ll say Larkin is still on the team at season start…trades are hard and Yzerman is incompetent.

2nd overall from Sharks would be neat. Hell, add Cossa as a seeetener.

Doubt Larkin waives to sharks though.

Greeting Wings fans

What are the chances he's traded in the East? From an outsider it feels like a trade out West for pieces that can help now, and Yzerman denies the rebuild...

I also would put good money you guys are the landing spot for EP in a separate deal

My money would be on Anaheim or LA, for a package around Mactavish/Zellweger and a first or Byfield. Connections to both organizations. Minny should push super hard, I just have trouble seeing what they offer that can match either of those two packages.

There is no way Chicago is in this, and certainly not for Frondell or 4th. He doesn't fit our timeline. Frondell is untouchable and 4th will be dependent on if Stenberg is available or not, if they deal it would be for a player 23-27. We are not a Larkin away and this team strength is down the middle.

Not sure why we need 3 threads for the same thing!

Read somewhere that a couple years ago Larkin had said he would be ok with a trade to LA or NYR. It was from a non Wings source but can't remember which one said it.

I think Minnesota is a strong possibility now that Quinn is there and they need a center. Larkin would be a good #1 center for them with Kaprizov. That said, Minny has nothing great to comeback here, so I hope he doesn't go there.

I would simply refuse to trade him to Minnesota and tell him he's stuck in Detroit if he doesn't budge. Awful trading partner and I'd want Yzerman fired the day after if it happen.
