Speculation: Larkin trade return

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
Having to stomache Stramel or whatever dogshit they have left after the Hughes trade would be awful.
I’m sorry I’m not doing that and thank god we have Yzerman and not some wuss gm cause I could totally see Yzerman bringing back Larkin if he gets shit he doesn’t like in a deal

Stramel and wallstedt? f*** that … who’s even looking for a goalie , if we flipped those 2 to another team what would we even get a 1st and a 2nd? f*** off … you can play with Quinn in the summer

I really really like Ek, but as pointed out he is Larkin's age. I'm also out on EP40 after this, I think it would be a big mistake to try to patch this thing together with whatever you get for Larkin and then toss in EP40.

I don't really get retools all that much, most of those have failed but people point out Boston who returned to the playoffs, congrats at being a bubble team I guess?

If Detroit settles for that, I’ll be curious to see what their plan for a 1C is.

McTavish would be an upgrade on what we have at 2C, but he’s not a 1C, and I don’t see him becoming it. He would need to make significant strides with his skating and playmaking to become that.

Anaheim doesn’t have a 2027 1st, and if we trade them Larkin their 2028 1st will be a late pick in guessing. So I don’t see getting a 1st from them as something that makes sense.

I’d probably ask for McTavish + McQueen, but you’re really banking on McQueen there… and he had a pretty eh season.
Ducks have a 2027 pick. Still... I'd like more. I'm just not convinced they'll get it. We'll see.

Yeah, I think the worst thing Yzerman can do is try to just replace Larkin and run it back. Ok, I take it back - if you can do a 1 for 1 with NJ for Hischier, I think that might be the only semi realistic scenario where its a decent hockey trade. But barring that, you're not likely to materially change the direction of the franchise and you're missing an opportunity to fundamentally change things and build around Mo and Ray.

Am I in crazytown?

He had 60 points as a 20 year old 6-3 winger! I'd bet he's right under Carlsson on the Ducks untouchable list
Gauthier had 41 goals this year, and Lacombe is probably above him on that list too.

But I get your point.
Just a lurker here trying to gauge the expectations of the Wings fanbase, but he is 100% right.

The view of Ducks fans is that Sennecke has the potential to be one of the best wingers in the league with his combination of size, speed, skill, and edge. He is basically Perry is Perry could skate. Definitely in the same "untouchable" category as the other 3.

Can we all be honest with the situation for a second?

The team SY inherited in 2019 wasn’t in need of a rebuild. It was in need of a build. There was nothing. No foundation, awful contracts, no chip prospects, and not even many draft picks.

While the situation we’re in now feels like a rebuild would be reverting back to those days, that’s far from reality. This current organization has many young, talented players and prospects - a foundation which would catapult a successful rebuild out of the middling fringe playoff team I see as our current ceiling.

If I’m SY, I’m having a meeting with Seider & Rayzer. Here’s what we’re going to do. It may take us a couple years of struggle, but we’re going to make a serious attempt at truly building a dynasty.

Larks, Cat, Gibson, Ras, Copp, whoever.. all dealt for young prospects and picks. Sign the best UFAs we can get this summer to short-term, top dollar contracts and sell for even more assets at the TDL. That’s the only path I see to eventually being a perennial cup contender, given what we currently have.

Rebuilds work when you have something to build on. We now have that.

Yeah let's be honest, Yzerman inherited a 22 year old 1st line Center in Larkin, and had a core to sell off of Athanasiou, Nyquist, Mantha, and Bertuzzi. Let's not act like that was a terrible starting place. Yzerman just completely botched the rebuild. Both the 2019 and 2026 Red Wings are in the exact same spot, both need a complete rebuild.

Larkin for Hagens.

Boston is in win now and Detroit gets highend center prospect. Tank for a year or two and retool.

that's just a factual lie.

Come on man
How is that a factual lie? Both teams need to go through a full tear down and get lottery picks to compete for a cup. Unless you know another way to get a first line center, a 2nd line center, a top line winger, two more top 6 forwards, and two top 4 defensemen

The team is in an objectively much better situation right now than they were in 2019.

They're in a better situation to rebuild but not exactly win anything... I think his point had merit. The yzerplan was never to rebuild the rebuild.

They're not closer to winning anything now than in 19.

That’s a load of sh**

None of the players you listed had any real trade value. We also had ZERO promising young players or prospects, other than Larkin. We now have:

F: Raymond, Kasper, Finnie, Mazur, MBN, Bear, Danielson, Ammo, Genborg, Plante, James

D: Seider, Ed, Aljo, ASP, AntJo, Buium, Wallinder, Tuomisto

Goalies: do I really need to list them all?

The situations couldn’t be any more different.

Larkin wants to leave knowing these guys are in the 'pipeline'. Not a ringing endorsement.
