Larkin consistently folding after committing to Detroit long-term, making a plea for additional help, folding again even with that help, then demanding a trade (as a captain), then providing a 3-team list that would f**k over the team if adhered to (except maybe FL) is the functional equivalent of farting and forcing the team and fanbase to taste it.

While I am not keen on Yzerman sticking around much longer, I do have quite a bit of confidence he will handle this specific situation correctly.

Either Larkin expands that joke of a 3 team list, or I will make him stick around as essentially a prisoner. He can either put the jersey on and get booed out of the stadium, or he can sit there and be a healthy scratch until he expands that list.

I don't think Yzerman would bother playing that game. He just wouldn't deal Larkin if the couldn't get a deal he liked and they'd work it out quietly.

edit: guess I should say if it came from the organization I think it would be someone just running their mouth, and not something they were directed to do.

I’ve thought this from the beginning. It benefits the wings for this to be widely known and teams with interest reaching out. If there’s offers it will put pressure on Larkin to expand his list

I have absolutely zero issue with keeping him and playing him if Yzerman doesn't get the value he wants. Both sides have trump cards. Both sides have the ability to stand pat. Larkin is flexing with his a little bit. Yzerman can and should flex back if necessary.

Larkin, Gibson 50% retained, Gylander (???), 2026 late rounder

I know Cossa has his flaws but if next year is going to be intentionally rough it’s better to see what we have with him.

There was reporting that Larkin’s camp was upset this was leaked too, so that seems odd to me. My theory is one of the other parties, ex: Minnesota leaked it to get things moved along.

Doubt Larkin’s team wanted this info public because it makes him look bad. It’s definitely a leak from our end and knowing how much Devallano likes to talk, I feel like it’s coming from him.

If Jimmy D was actually leaking this then he needs to be fired. It's possible Larkin was only telling friends and family and someone told someone else who wasn't supposed to and word got out.
