Blown leads, subpar PP, scheduling, injuries, bad puck luck. We’ve heard it all.
You are what your record is.

I underestimated Trotz defensive secrets. I guess lambert didn’t pick up much in all their years together lolI love Lambert and he absolutely deserves to be a head coach but this was my fear. He’s been with Trotz for so many years and he’s basically more of the same in my mind.
That being said maybe Lou saw something when lane took over or the players conveyed it to him? “New Voice”
Barry could also wanted a sabbatical but wanted to do it if Lane took over.
This is what I’m thinking. Break from the game and he gets his #1 assistant a shot to be a head coach
bottle up the neutral zone making entries difficult, force as much as you can to the outside, give the goalie clean looksI underestimated Trotz defensive secrets. I guess lambert didn’t pick up much in all their years together lol

exactly the opposite of what we have been seeing, that Montreal goal the other night where both Pelech and Pulock were manhandled in front of the net was tough to watch. at least wotherspoon cleared the crease and knocked people around before he got benched for the musical minor leaguers.... physical play on D wears down an opponent and makes them understand you are going to feel pain when you into into my territory thus making them at least maybe think twice or hesitate just enough to make a difference
--best "like " I can give until Friday when 5 penalty points drop off my record. They don't enjoy our brand of humor the main board. Sometimes in my aging senility I wander away from home and forget where I amEmbarrassing
how's it going PK?I think the impact a captain has is pretty minimal.
i guess he's happy caps lost and ovechkin may be out of the country for awhile. that's the only hopeI might add Lane talked about positives in press conference.
They lost to a rookie third tier goalie on a lower team on a back to back at home in a must-win match.
I don't see many positives in that.
Honestly all of this is a reflection on Lou Lamoriello.Posted this in game thread, maybe would have been better here...
o let's consider Lane objectively.
The PP has been awful for most part. Historically bad until last few games.
The OTs have been awful.
Shootouts continue to get worse. One goal all season? I mean, c'mon.
Team seems to lack motivation.
Third periods woeful (four goals in last 18)
Score very few goals. Offence weak.
Defence fallen off a cliff.
Lost around 12 of last 16?
Lines and selections don't seem to make sense at times. (I thought Salo was good until one bad game, got punted into sun and get can't back into this shitshow? Bolduc and Wotherspoon seemed to be doing well)
Which players are performing at or above previous efforts? Aho maybe? Holmstrom. Sorokin, Varlamov, Nelson, Parise, Martin, Fasching.
Which are below previous form? Pulock, Pelech, Barzal, Bailey, Mayfield, Beauvillier (RIP), JGP, Lee, Dobson, Palmieri, Romanov, Cizikas.
That is a damning list of key players who are not performing.
What is working?
PK I guess.
Punctuality is excellent.
Now it's not ALL Lane's fault, but if so many things are failing on his watch then he is clearly not the man for the job.
Trotz at start of this year said he knew this team would bounce back. Well they haven't.
Amen. He looked out of his depth earlier in season.Credit where credit is due, Lane is making good adjustments, sticking to consistent lines and seems to be turning things around here
She's really good, btw - had a lot of x's & o's observations throughout the game (that's what I like personally from color in the booth). And brought this insight to the table too, which is nothing we've heard from NYI's crew. I was impressed.Heard a new one on the ESPN broadcast of the Islander - Sabre game today. So, Lane Lambert was the bad cop during all his years with Barry Trotz and Trotz was the good cop according to Cassie Campbell-Pascal. Now that is a revelation.
i really liked her too....nice delivery, knowledgeable, not obtrusive, didn't over analyze.....i had never heard her before.....i was very impressedShe's really good, btw - had a lot of x's & o's observations throughout the game (that's what I like personally from color in the booth). Otoh, really disliked Subban. Wth?

He's an assclown. His wardrobe is as cheap as his blind side hits were. Thankfully, I watch most games late at night on delay and can avoid the "pundits" expert thought patterns on what makes good hockeyIt seems Subban has already forgotten about what playoff hockey is about.
Last night was playoff hockey so PK can go snooze through the playoffs if he prefers but nothing beats playoff hockey
