In related news, Demidov has passed Gretzky in pts/game
Regardless....people who aren't Habs fans (and even a lot of them) want more than one season of success/performance before they go claiming someone is going to be as good or better than the consensus best defenseman in the nhl. If he repeats and/or builds on this season next year, you'll probably have a lot more people open to the idea.To be fair Juneau had his rookie season in 1992-1993 when there was two expansion teams. The same season Selanne scored his 72 rookie goal record. Hutson is playing in a lower scoring era than many of those on that list. Only ones on the list that had their rookie season in the 2000s are Crosby and Barzal and one of those is somewhat close to Lemieux.
Who? Never heard of this guy. Y'all sure he plays in the NHL?
He now has 9th most assists for a rookie ever.
I'm curious why some people still think he won't be as good as Makar. Makar had like 0.86ppg rookie season and Hutson is at 0.8 ppg.
He puts up almost as many assists as a defenseman as the generational talent Crosby did during his rookie year. And now he even surpassed Mario. This is crazy.

Pure eye test when it comes to Makar, but credit where its due. Dude is putting up points left and right. Eventually he has to play some more actual defense right? Pk?
All of the name you mentioned are forwards. Only defenseman on the list who has more assists is Larry Murphy. He turned out alright didnt he?
Yes. I think. Probably. Why not say so.He also has played six regular seasons in the NHL..was he that good also in his rookie year?
Yeah i don't think most Habs fans are onboard that train yet either lol.Impressive season for him non the less. Have to agree with some that we need to see another impressive season to compare to someone like Makar who has years over him at elite play.
Only good enough for a couple teamsWho? Never heard of this guy. Y'all sure he plays in the NHL?
Probably because Makar was genuinely good defensively when he entered the league as well and Hutson is less than good in his own zone.
He is nowhere near as good as Makar was as a rookie lmao don’t care how many secondary assists he leetches off of Suzuki and Laine. He now has 9th most assists for a rookie ever.

He's not good in his own zone and is comparable to Karlsson. Not much better....as a rookie, he's surprisingly good in his own zone...much better than Swedish Jesus was when he came into the League...

Hutson is a defensemanMario Lemeiux was 3 years younger and played on a worse team.
You can always tell who has no idea wtf they’re talking about in these threads. Guarantee this guy has never sat and watched a single game Hutson played in apart from the ones against his own team, if even those. Crazy. He's not good in his own zone and is comparable to Karlsson. Not much better.
What stats?...agree to disagree amigo...and both the stats and eye test confirm he's better defensively...![]()
This is almost 1.5mo old btwWhat stats?
Not saying the card is infallible but when I watch him he's not good in his own end and this sort of matches what I see. He's only 20, he's got a lot of time to figure it out.View attachment 1014579
