Player Discussion Lane Hutson: Part 3 - Calder Edition

I could see the NHL giving it to Celebrini for marketing reasons. As in he's gonna be one of the premium faces of the NHL for the next 2 decades , was a 1st overall etc. He is also almost a PPG at 18 which ain't too shabby.

Now i'm not saying that i agree with that and personally right now i give to Hutson but i wouldn't be surprised one bit if the league snubs him for Celebrini. In fact I'm almost expecting it

It's the PHWA that votes, not the NHL. If Hutson gets snobbed, it will rather be because of market bias (USA vs Canada journos).

Yeah,

Honestly this is why I think we go all in on Crosby. We have so many assets and picks to trade with. We could kickstart Pittsburgh’s rebuild and they could tank for Mackenna. We have an abundance of young talent at LD.
Crosby just recently passed Gretzky in the most points with a single franchise and is 53 points away from passing Mario. You've got to think he's at least eyeing that, and the 139 points behind Howe for the NHL record is also well within reach if he plays out his contract.

I know. It may be impossible to get him.

But I think he’d value a cup more than a Pittsburgh record. And he loves the Canadiens. Now is the ideal time for him to come here. If we added him, RB, Demidov and Beck next year we become instant contenders. The only piece we’d really need is another guy on RD.

Honestly, there’s a chance for Crosby to win multiple cups with us if he came next year.

It's almost scary to think this is his rookie season and thus probably the worst he'll ever be until much later in his career and he's already that key to our team. We really need to treat him special moving forward and make all the key roster decisions with him in mind on defense, starting this summer. Really build the whole thing around him.

The dream would be Parayko.

Hutson-Parayko
Guhle-Reinbacher

Drool

I had that showerthought a few weeks ago on who would be the perfect partner for Hutson. God I'd like for us to have a young Colton Parayko in the pipeline. Not sure there is a prototype of such a player in the league right now.

Better chance to win them in colorado with his pal n8dog
Chances of crosby in a habs jersey are almost 0

I doubt he leaves Pittsburgh, but bet that if Crosby does move, he comes to Montreal.

The fit, the personal history, the roster & cap situation... All work heavily in Montreal's favour. I don't see him taking a big pay cut to sign on with a Colorado for a year or two just to play with MacKinnon & Makar, and the Avs don't have the assets to realistically send the Pens anything decent to justify trading him with retention on his current deal.

Dare to dream ;)

He's pretty tight lipped so it's hard to say.

Does he value loyalty? Then he stays

Does he value a real shot at one more cup before he retires? Colorado makes most sense.

Does he feel sentimental about his boy hood team to the point that he wants finish there? Then it's Montreal.

If he decides to move, he will choose where he goes, so it won't take the farm to get him. The penguins will be lacking leverage so some of these offers im seeing are inflated.
