Post-Game Talk: Jets 4 - Coilers 3

Also first class move by the Jets letting Schenn fly home to spend some time with his family in Nashville before rejoining the team.
This could become an issue in the off season if Schenn decides that his family is not moving to Winnipeg for the final year of his contract especially if he and his family really like Nashville

I would really like Tanev to move up with the Lowry line and Appleton down.
Maybe Arniel does not want to show his hand since teams will be scouting the Jets for the playoffs in the coming weeks. If Tanev makes that line go you can bet your last dollar Arniel will be playing that trio.
I honestly believe that's what the Avs did when the Jets shut them out 7-0 at the end of the season last year. The Avs had a plan on how to beat the Jets' system.

I wonder if we see them try to keep Tanev or Appelton this summer. He likely comes cheaper in both cap hit and term
I think Apples is easily replaced by either Chibby or Lambert. Tanev you try to keep. The guy I'm keeping my eye out is what decision is made re Iafallo. He doesn't have eye popping numbers by he is a player that coaches love to have on their roster.

Yup, he's the type of guy that would allow you to have a more offensive type line in the bottom 6.

Vilardi's been pretty underwhelming lately. And I'd like to remind you that Perfetti checked two guys into the boards Byfuglien style the other night...

Really, though, Perfetti is often in tight around the net...he knows where to go, can handle the physical stuff a lot better than a year ago. I think if I was going to make a change, it would be Perfetti for Vilardi.
He has been underwhelming and if you think he could handle it, I'm not going to argue.

And the best news Iafallo wants to stay in Winnipeg. I would say Jets sign at least one of them Iafallo, Tanev or Apples in that order.
I just notice too ... how nice is it that in a 4-3 win all 4 lines scored a goal even strength.

If Iafallo wants to sign for max 3 million a season i would sign him but no higher .

McDavid on Monday did not skate and was questionable for the Jets game.
Reports today "lower body injury" ... Morrissey's hit was in the arm area.
The hit was not even that hard plus McDavid was holding Morrissey's stick.

McD steps on JMo's skate and that is where he tweaks himself.
Good, I hope he has a sports hernia and doesn't get back this year and signs somewhere else.
I hate those fans so much it isn't even funny.
Crash and burn you big babies.
Maybe give Nurse another 9.25m deal after this one expires.

That's a good number but right now I think Chevy has bigger players to sign first.
I think once he signs his top priority he can go down the line quick.
Remember how long it took for Laine to sign and once he did Connor was signed the next day.
I think Chevy is waiting for the playoffs to see what Ehlers does and how much he is worth. Chevy signs Ehlers if he wants to stay and that gets the ball rolling.
I figure Ehlers, Pionk are the priorities and the other 3 Samberg, Vilardi will depend on how many years they want. I'm hoping Samberg get the 8 years.

Perfetti still has another year left on his contract and I imagine he and Chevy won’t talk contract until after next season. Agreed Ehlers will be the priority, but good chance Pionk is the first to sign as I’d guess Chevy and his camp will be on the same page. My guess is both Vilardi and Samberg file for arbitration and then sign long term as their arbitration dates become pressure points.

You are right I should have checked one less thing to worry about.
I have been hearing stories about what teams are going to do that can't sign FAs. Sign players to offer sheets like the Blues did last year and it worked out great for them ... bad for the Oilers..
And looked what popped up today about the Leafs. Jason Bukala who is one of best says the Leafs should sign Knies before Marner because of the offer sheet.

I like the free speech that X allows now. To each his own I suppose.

Apologies in advance mods as this is veering into OT; feel free to move it if so. But I quip about Connor’s OT goal from this game;

I can respect that Larabee.
Free speech is one thing but imo the modern X is worse off overall - because it’s overrun with bots, porn ads, crackpot marketing threads, and kooky misinformation that gets elevated by their algorithms.

I’m just trying to follow the latest Jets news or watch a replay but I’m bombarded by how multiple ancient civilizations were visited by aliens or extreme political opinions that I simply don’t care for. I just want to see Connor’s OT goal replay.

Also, is it truly free speech? Bill Burr would disagree - he got censored for freely speaking and about X’s owner

I felt Twitter was a toxic hell hole long before the take over as well. They had serious problems. Got away from the mess 7 or 8 years ago and stayed away. Have no interest in the platform after the sale either. Wouldn’t touch the Blue Butterfly with a 10 foot pole. If a post comes up here from either platform about the Jets I am fine with that level of interaction.

I won't ever be on X because of the dolt that owns it.

I just don't think that that will be an issue. If they want to stay in Nashville - so be it. Schenn seems like the ultimate professional.

I think it's the absence of Pionk that's driving most of Morrissey's extra time. Not sure how much tinkering with the bottom pair will matter.

Morrissey is now 3rd in the league in 5v5 ice time, and 5th in all-strengths TOI.

He looked pretty sharp in the OT last night, though...but yeah they gotta let him catch his breath.
Not so much tinkering for me, its more preparedness for injury.

our 2 (3 if you want to go crazy and add Salo) most offensive leaning D haven't touched an NHL ice sheet in a long time.

Give at least Heinola and ideally Coghlan some games so they're ready if needed.
