He is extremely good at creating lanes and slipping pucks through traffic. It is just bad luck that he doesn't have a few more points from this tactic so far.

I honestly think he looks like an nhl player in all facets of the game except for size
His backwards skating looks fine, certainly better than it did in that drill from a year or so ago

He looks incredible in many ways but the back skating is still likely the worst of any NHL dman....it is terrible which is actually an improvement over last season. He still can really only glide in a backskate and still uses side pivots to turn and accelerate rather than back crossovers. It is why he has been burned so often in one on one's. He is getting better at adapting as he is able to anticipate when the attacker will cut but it is the double moves that really kill him.

His stick has proven to be phenomenal and if he can even get his backskating to being close to NHL average (which he should be able to do if he puts in the work) then he will be an adequate defender given his offensive prowess. He will always struggle with the limitations that his size brings but there is so much room for growth with his skating (straight line speed and back skating) that for me it is exciting to imagine how good he could become if he improves in these areas.

He's created a lot of good goal scoring chances for himself. I've only been able to watch here and there and can remember three times he beat the goalie clean only to hit the post.

It's a matter of time but people should be patient. It will take him 2 to 3 years before getting comfortable at the NHL level.
