Kid adapts to anything, learns and gives 10x his ability, flaws and things will be there but thats learning process.

He will do wonders with habs, they can't screw this up

Will he really sign with Habs this Spring or next Spring ? I heard he might be intrested to play with his two brothers. He might be not intrested at all to play at AHL level.

The thing is.....you didn't "hear" that at all. That is simply just a theory based on zero evidence and is 100% speculation from people who know nothing about the situation. Reading opinions on here does not qualify as having "heard" that this is being discussed.

He will be signing here shortly and has no intention of going back to college if Montreal wants him.

I don't get it, he is 20 years old, 5'9 165, in 2 years he might be 5'10 or 5'9 1/2, at this point who cares? And will be 175 pounds. It's almost the same shape as Q Hughes, in the NHL today there is a place for smaller dman. I am tired of using his height or weight to judge him. He will be fine in 1-2 years, let him gain some weight and experience and he will be a top 4 dman. I see no problem with his skills translate to the NHL.

While I appreciate the sentiment, it's not that simple.

Generally when you look at under-sized guys that have found success in the league, one of the common traits that helps compensate for their lack of size, and generally that's great skating and top-end speed. You either have to be extremely elusive or extremely fast to make up for that lack of size.

If you were to put together a list of the best skating defensemen in the NHL, Quinn Hughes is right at the top. He's also 5'10 and 180 pounds. If Hutson skated like Hughes does, there would be way less concern about his size at the NHL level.

How does his skating compare to Quinn Hughes's?

Exactly.

I did not invent it. I read it somewhere in a paper.

Nobody said that you invented it but you read it on a message board or as speculation from an outsider........that does not constitute evidence and is exactly what is wrong with this world.
It was from a journalist. Not a poster on some boards.

If you can read French. Basically he is not sure he will be physically ready for the big jump, and he really wants to win the big NCAA Championship. But that was back last October.... So.
Boy now that you delivered a tangible reference for your previous claim, I'm sure the passive-agressive posters above will retract their snarky remarks. Anytime time now...

Good article but Hutson just said generic answers, back in October.

He doesn't say anything about his brothers. He doesn't say anything about not being sure if he's physically ready either. He just says he wants to get stronger and win the championship this year. He also says he wants to take his time and reevaluate at the end of the season. Literally what every NCAA player always says almost verbatim.

And 1909 didnt claim to be in possession of the absolute truth, he merely claimed he heard something about the subject as a way to keep the conversation rolling, and even brought forth an article alluding to what he was saying. My point is... we're not on trial here, it's supposed to be a chill place to talk hockey.

I can’t imagine Hughes sticking his neck out, stating publicly (in this frenzied market) Habs plan to sign Hutson at end of this season, unless the org knows Hutson’s position / intentions

This is THE OTHER ARTICLE I read. (in French). Hutson participated to the Sick Podcast with McCagg. And again he said he was not sure If he would be ready for pro hockey in 2024, and even might like to play with his two brothers.

Of course, he will eventually sign with MTL. He will do wathever Habs will ask him to do.

Hughes is an elite skater though like most of the Under 5’10 Dmen. That’s the big concern with Hutson

any idea when Lane will be eligible to come over?

The Hockey East Conference Tournament will be played first. The final is on March 23rd, whether BU makes it to the final or not.

After that are the Regionals on the weekend of March 28-31. Whether BU wins the Hockey East tournament or not, they are going to the Regionals because they were one of the top teams in the NCAA.

So the earliest we should expect Lane is early April. Unless BU makes it to the Frozen Four, which will be on April 11 and/or the National Championship, which will be on April 13th.

If he sticks to the NCAA next year to "get stronger", I will be relieved. Let him gain 15lbs. It's too risky not to. 5'10", 180 lbs is perfectly acceptable with his skills and the other big D we have in our system to support him. He needs to get as close to that as possible.

Oatmeal and beef 8 times a day squatting his own weight all summer and he’ll look like Suzuki in no time. Like walk around with your little brother in a backpack.
