Lane Hutson Burgeoning Star Watch

Yes, there are a significant amount of them that are more interested in proving people wrong instead of supporting their team.

Bobby Orr 41 points as a rookie in 61 games
31 points in 46 games as a sophomore
64 in 67 in his third year!

Exploded for 33 goals and 120 points in his 4th season.

ppg went from .67 to 1.5 in 4 seasons

Using the same generational player scale for Hutson, he should be averaging 145 points a season when hes 24/25.
Honestly it wouldn't surprise me, I've never seen a player like Hutson before. But I have to admit i don't watch that much outside of Habs games. I haven't studied Makar and Hughes etc

...he reminds me more of Q. Hughes every time I watch him play...he has that "waterbug" ability and sees the ice well, like Hughes does...neither had much of a shot when they got to the NHL, so I hope Hutson works on his shot like Hughes did...

I never had a chance to watch Bobby Orr live, just the clips that everyone sees but Hutson really reminds me of Bobby Orr.

...that was a VASTLY different Era where the play and the players were mostly MUCH slower than they are now...Orr used his great skating and incredible bursts to skate around everyone...Hutson can't do that these days...

just having fun with the orr comparisons, seems to trigger some folks

Definitely wouldn't say he's been elite all year, but he has been since the 4 Nations. 2.25 ga/60 and a ~60% xgf% is elite over that sample.
Anyone who just watched the game could see it, well, all but the most bitter haters.

He put on a defensive clinic last night. Against the Cup champs, no less. He was legitimately just as good defensively as he was offensively, and we all know what he did on offense.

He was breaking up plays, cutting off passing lanes and intercepting passes, angling guys into the boards, hounding guys and stripping the puck off them, and getting his stick in to deflect/prevent shots. He was everywhere last night, and his stick work and positioning were superb.

His defensive play now vs earlier in the season is night and day.
