Lane Hutson Burgeoning Star Watch

Devils don’t have room for Hutson because they don’t have a Hutson to make room for
If they had a Hutson what would you have done differently this offseason?

Not bring in Dillon I assume, who yes, Hutson is better than.

But who are you then having as your 4 to PK?

I don’t build nhl rosters, but i assume if there is a will there is a way
I think eventually Luke will become able to PK, and maybe with Hutson you try and build him into that role this year?

Or the other alternative is you replace Dougie with basically a RHD Dillon and trade him this offseason somehow through his NMC but even then I think Dougie's shot is a key part of our PP success. (the same reason I'm hesitant to put Luke on as a PP1 replacement next year)

MTL has Hutson feeding to 2 snipers in Caufield/Laine
NJD has Jack feeding and moving to Bratt/Dougie as the shot threats, and replacing a shot threat in dougie with a non shooting threat in Hutson/Luke would throw things off

Or ig you could go with the "let's get REAL crazy with it" solution of Brendan Smith 4LW+PK specialist

Seamus Casey had three goals and an assist in his first five games! Unfortunately he couldnt stick around because we brought back Pesce and Hughes; plus he only just turned 21, so no need to rush him!

From what Ive read it seems Casey and Hutson are similar-style players
Casey was shooting at near 100% and their play isn't really similar.

Not sure where it originated from, but it's super weird. LOL
It stems from some posters claiming that casey was better than Hutson, so when Casey got sent to the AHL and hutson didn't their claim was that Hutson would have been sent to the AHL if he were a Devil.

Now they keep digging and and claim it would have been the right move to put him in the AHL given those circumstances. Its hilarious

He definitely wouldn't be their #1 D-man because he wouldn't have gotten the chance to be. They would have been wrong to do it, but they absolutely would have sent him down.

Who would NJ take out of the lineup? Dillon, Siegenthaler or Luke Hughes to make room for him?

You seem to be struggling with the idea that not every team is built the same way.

Bolded.

Ironically enough, he plays with Matheson (on his offside) and they are dominant 😂
The ideal partner for Hutson is a smooth skating D who is great in transition and defends well off the cycle. Matheson has the first two in spades, which makes him a good partner for Hutson, even if he he struggles defensively.

Reinbacher, if he's able to get his career back on track, could be the perfect partner for Hutson down the road.

Yep. What's interesting about Reinbacher is his mobility despite the fact he is a big, rangy Dman. And he is talented enough to follow Hutson in his crazy way of using space and understand it.

You mean the guy who has been our best defenseman this year? lol sure

Substituting your best defensemen for the leagues best defensemen sounds like a fair trade.

"...... but but Luke Hughes has terrible puck luck against left handed goalies on every 2nd Tuesday"

I've seen enough, Lane is a Norris contender by March/April. Someone mentioned earlier has anyone won the calder and the Norris in the same year? This year.

Habs reject Johnny Kovacevic is your no 1 D-man.
